Sore From Yoga?

I did yoga two days ago and i’m starting back tommorw.the reason i didnt do it the first time is cuz i didnt feel like it and the second time,i was sore.so, i could really do it. is it okay to skip days or will i not have the benefits if i dont do it everday???

Research suggests we should exercise (…physical aspect of Yoga i.e. asanas or poses), in order to reap benefits, thrice a week. Some sort of regularity is important in practicing Yoga techniques too. It can be thrice a week or four times a week, etc.
It is quite possible, for a person doing Yoga first time, to experience some degree of muscles soreness for couple of days. Physiologist call it “muscle cry”. To minimize the discomfort check and ensure protien in your diet specially in the breakfast and dinner.

I don’t find it unusual to have some muscle soreness or awareness the day after a yoga class. For me - it really depends upon the type of yoga class that I attend.

Some classes are more ‘follow the leader’ with very little emphasis on anchoring into your body. Other classes (especially the Iyengar ones that I go to) are more focused on body awareness - on actually feeling into the areas you are working. It’s these classes that leave me with some stiffness because I’ve actually worked the muscles/body parts rather than simply moved them.

When and where yoga, the union, happens?

Not when the instructor demonstrates, not when it is tried at first, not when the muscles are sore, not even in the studio.

It happens when your mind connects to what you are doing and gets drawn to it. Yoga’s success is regular practice that one does solely because one wants to. There is no yoga in supple body or athletic skills or hallucinations of spiritual accomplishments. If you need to push yourself to “do” yoga, think again.
