Ego
When yoga teaches that ego must be shed, not the I consciousness must be shed, just the identification of it with the limited things it uses. The ego must not be thrown out, but seen through, and used by the spirit, by the I consciousness. It is wrong if we think we need to eliminate it. Can you live without a physical body ? Not in this world. And we have been born to live in this world, this is our karma. We have duties to perform. We need to learn. We need to grow.
Hello Hubert

The dualists argue that it is our ego that tells us that we are the infinite ‘I’ consciousness, maintaining that in reality the individual souls are still different from Ishvara, an interesting possibility. Shedding the I consciousness would be like shedding the experiencer, how can we experience anything, without an experiencer ? There are also other arguments, but what is common in many faiths is the belief that self is not a priority, so they all are right in what they believe.

As long as most people, including myself, are in trouble knowing who they are (who we are), it is of little use talking in general terms.
There is no such thing ego, I consciousness, outside personal expereince. That is just an abstarct term, and abstract terms are just tools, names, in our minds, already distorted by maya. There is only the experience of it, I am. I am, but who am I ?

The same with God, Brahman.
The way is, as I imagine (and because of this, this is just a picture, a thought) know thyself, and you will know the world, know the world and yourself as one, and you will know Brahman.
