If spiritual path was opening and it became blocked one need to reflect on their previous actions. But if just nose is blocked there are other practices one can do, just dont lock your mind at one thing and get stuck. In the meantime do something else.
Open channels and a robust physical condition are prerequisite to any advanced yoga system like Kriya Yoga. Keep in mind you are not seeking anything, but rather consciously refining and purifying your consciousness.
This herbal combination, or something similar, will help your nostrils and pathways clear up:
Have you tried swimming before hand? That clears my sinuses right up! Pay heed to the advice you’ve already been given and consider these tidbits.
If it doesn’t produce shortness of breath don’t worry about the blockage and let it run it’s course by relaxing into the exhalation. In another pranayam that I do which is similar I find that the added restriction enables greater relaxation because of the back pressure. Think of a car shedding momentum using the gears instead of the breaks.
Of course open a window and don’t let the relaxed breathing create a collapsed posture.
When setting your hands feel that the pressure of your fingers closing the channels on your nose produces a feeling of of even pressure on the outside and inside of tissue.
Notice also that your septum does not shift in either direction.
Luck!
I didn’t know ones septum could move noticeably, I don’t think I know what that feels like tbh. But when my sinuses close they fully close and usually means I can only breathe through one nostril, the other fully closes.
Viloma may be a better pranayam for you to practice then. At first your breath may be coarse but it will smoothe out more and more.
Starting from an inhalation after an exhalation, you can break Viloma down a couple of ways.
Inhale half capacity, hold for that same duration (as the inhale), inhale the other half without trying to overfill or bloat the abdomen, hold^^, exhale either fully(without interruption) to begin, or exhale in parts just as the inhalation.
Retention after exhalation comes later so at first start your inhale right at the bottom of your exhale. If you eventually practice bahya kumbhaka be careful that the diaphragm doesn’t jump. If you go past your edge exhale out before catching the wave of inhalation.
The nostril breathing just takes time. Practice with just the fingers first going back and forth from each side and then progress into the breath. There are good Youtube videos out there for this
Try taking a hot bath, put your head in the water.
The heat stimulates the chakras and your nostrils will open.
As a practitioner with a severely deviated septum, I feel your frustration. This may sound silly, but try pranayama while wearing a BreathRight nose strip. It helps to open and clear the nasal passages
I will certainly try that!
