Siddhi means perfection; any sense of power is its fallout.
But an idea that we do such and such technique and attain siddhi, is a misconception. The perfection in Yoga is mani-fold. Once you take the jouney, it becomes evident that there is so much dissonance, conflicts, contradictions, chaotic thinking, biases, defective breathing, old hardened habits, preferences, and the stubborn ego that enjoys a status quo.
We have three bodies - (five koshas) - to synchronize. That needs ceaseless practice, determination, patience. Synchronized bodies are needed to get past them; to be able to concentrate, meditate and contemplate in a very subtle domain. We need freedom from our colored perception and conditioned thinking to unveil the appearances and see the truth.
Such heightened awareness brings perfection and some powers. But by then, you have changed beyond recognition. That individual who in spiritual infancy used to dream about powers has become by now indifferent towards them when they are his/her. If not, the guru ensures that. If even guru fails, the individual becomes a small time spiritual celebrity, but really starts losing siddhis and hides behind spiritual theartrics. That is the equation.
