Teacher training india...help

Hope Hong Kong has one

good luck with your search

Hello friends

I am practicing yoga for last 10 years and I wanted to do a good teacher training course for very long.
I wanted to go to India for the TTC as I wanted to have the knowledge directly from the roots. After long search
on internet and talking to many schools in India I did my TTC at Ananda Yoga Vedanta Ashram, North India.
It is beautiful ashram and a perfect place for those interested in Yoga and spirituality. The atmosphere is very peaceful, the teachers were very inspiring and caring. the people were very traditional and dedicated to yoga and vedic principles. I learnt alot about teaching, correcting, alignments apart from the right principles
They only accept 15 students in a course, the course was an eye opener, good value for money,I saw many differences in Yoga in Europe and Yoga in India, If you are serious about Yoga The I would highly recommend it, you can check them at anandayogashram.org

Namaste!

http://www.yogapoint.com/info/ttcourse.htm (Yoga Vidya Dham, Nasik, Maharashtra, India) They have one month Yoga Teacher Training Program which is very affordable and highly recommended. They also offer 10 day Yoga Retreat & Yoga Life Style Course. Visit http://www.yogapoint.com/info/intro_yoga_course.htm for more details. Though we always recommend Yoga Vidya Dham for teacher training in India but the following links are also worth checking:

Namaste!

hello,
presently studying pranayama at the Kaivalyadhama yoga institute in Lonavla, i’m going to head to Rishikesh afterwards to hopefully keep on practicing studying.
having never been to Rishikesh, i was wondering if people would be willing to share their experiences of the various ashrams there and which ones they would generally recomend. today for example i heard several quite negative coments about one of the most renown ashrams, the Parmarth Niketan.
any comments and info would be greatly appreciated.
in truth,
noa

Hello Noa,

The Parmath Niketan is overall a bit noisy and schedules are a bit chaotic, especially when large groups arrive. It is positioned pretty decently though.

What is your most important purpose for the ashram you seek, is it the yoga/meditation? Is it the bedrooms? Is it…

Personally I did not sleep in the Sivananda Ashram but I heard it’s pretty OK and that the yoga is very good there. Also most years Swami Muktananda gives his satsangs which I really enjoyed back then.

Then there are more smaller ashrams scattered here and there. I have not remembered all names so I cannot give you further details. But if you have questions feel free to ask them and I will see what I know about them. I lived in Rishikesh for a little over 3 months. We rented an apartment though for most of that time.

Love,
Bentinho.

Hello Bentinho,
thank you very much for your reply. you are absolutely right that i shoulf be more clear as to what i am looking for. here are some of the things i would wish for :

a high quality yoga practice of asana and pranayama

lectures/teaching on subjects such as yamas/niyamas, the scriptures (upanishads, sutras, hatha pradipika…), yoga history

an quiet, serenne environment with a spiritual energy to it

an honest ashram that is run by people who follow their teachings themselves, rather that a big business mainly set up for financial profit

that is more or less what i would like to find in Rishikesh.
thank you for your kind help,
namaste

Hi Noa,
Thank you for your reply, but decided to go to The Yoga Institute, Santacruz, Mumbai for TTC. Because it is cheaper & shorter time.

I read your site Developed in India, yoga is a spiritual practice that has been

evolving for the last 5,000 years or so. The original yogis were

reacting, in part, to India’s ancient Vedic religion, which emphasized

rituals. The yogis wanted a direct spiritual experience – one on one

– not symbolic ritual. So they developed yoga.Yoga means “union” in

Sanskrit, the classical language of India.
According to the yogis, true happiness, liberation and enlightenment

comes from union with the divine consciousness known as Brahman, or

with Atman, the transcendent Self. The various yoga practices are a

methodology for reaching that goal.
In hatha yoga, for example, postures and breathing exercises help

purify the mind, body and spirit so the yogi can attain union.Pranayama

breathing exercises help clear the nadis, or channels, that carry prana

the universal life force, allowing prana to flow freely. When the

channels are clear and the last block at the base of the spine has been
opened, Kundalini rises through the spine, through the central channel

called the sushumna-nadi, and joins the crown chakra. Ac

Hi

if willing to do Yoga TTC in rishikesh try At Association for yoga and meditation India, seats usually full need to apply in advance

Hi shram,

is true that yoga is about inner search and it means samadhi or union, what i learn in my TTC with Yogi Chetan Mahesh. but actual meaning can be understood only experiencing the experience in that state.

If you want TTC specifically to be a teacher, I’ll be straight up and say you need to practice for much longer than a year.
If you want to immerse yourself in the practice in India, I’d recommend going to Risikesh and training there. You wont regret it!
My favourite Sivananda Ashram is actually in Grass Valley California…

I do highly recommend going to India to get more advanced yoga training if you do it in the states it will just be asana training no yoga at all

I am sorry I lost the name but there is a place for a month long intensive for $700 in the mountains of india maybe try to google it. It should only be $700 or so for the training there

Yoga School of Association for yoga and Meditation in Rishikesh offers Yoga teahers training which cost $770 for a month. Yoga School now Located At Omkarananda Satyanarana Mandir in Laxman Jhula on the banks of Holy Ganga with lagest yoga hall with spiritual atomsphere

Hi Momo,
I understand your need to move deeper in your practice. Take a look at Brahmani Yoga in Goa, India. They offer a balanced schedule that includes Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow, Hatha, Restorative Yoga and Pranayama & Meditation. You can go to self practice every morning and pranayama every evening. They will have a full line up weekend workshops that will cover a wider range of topics too. As they get closer to opening time you will find that they will have more online.
India is inexpensive and beautiful in the season time.
