[quote=David;37778]For almost four months now I’ve been having abdominal pain. I saw a specialist (GI) for the first time today and he feels it’s IBS caused by a past infection and that my abdominal nerves are going crazy. He prescribed Symax Duotab (Hyoscyamine Sulfate). Now, I must admit, I’m pretty desperate at this point. I’ve tried everything from fasting to all kinds of yoga practices and nothing has worked. The idea of being pain free, even for a short while, sounds quite delicious to me.
However, the idea of taking a drug that:
Concerns me.
If the doctor is right and the nerves feeding my guts are going crazy, are there specific yoga practices any of you might try first before popping these pills?
Thanks

David, I have been thinking of you since you started this thread. And wondering if you have gotten any relief from what you shared with us last.
I was recently having a conversation with a dear friend who was experiencing similar symptoms to those that you have shared here and in our PMs. Like you, she was not responding as well as I had hoped to the anti-pitta diet and Ayurvedic treatments that I recommended to her, like a few that you tried and also did not benefit from.
After being told she had IBS by two different MDs, she returned to her naturopath with these opinions, and feeling like she was being offered a diagnosis of idiopathic IBS only because the well-intentioned doctors were at a loss as to what really was happening in her body. Yes, she had shared IBS symptoms, but she felt that they hadn’t gotten to the source yet.
What her very tuned-in naturopath discovered was that she also had a hiatal hernia and repositioned her stomach during that same session, which was elevated in the abdominal cavity. She and the naturopath were not sure if any or all of the symptoms were originating from the hernia, but they were going to tend to the hernia and see how my friend’s body responded.
My friend said the adjustment was pretty intense and required her to partner the adjustment with her breath to make it happen, but that she that she experience significant relief from her symptoms within 24 hours of the adjustment. She has needed subsequent repositioning since the initial, but that the stomach has stayed in it’s proper place for longer after each adjustment.
Here is a link that she shared with me when I asked for information to share with you: http://www.joyfullivingservices.com/hiatalhernia.html. Here is one from the Mayo clinic too, but it keeps to the modern medical model and is unlikely to speak to all that you are already aware of yourself, after living and practicing with this issue, whatever it turns out to be.
Anyway, I hope you have gotten some relief and I wanted to offer this possible door to care and treatment, if it sparks something for you.
Your own,
Nichole
Do you still have IBS David, to date?
Hi David, Can you please list exactly what you eat? Has anyone asked this?
Thank you all. Just so you know you aren’t being ignored and I am appreciative, I wanted to respond. However, I don’t feel like talking about my health right now. But again, thank you.
No worries I am glad to know that you are listening to and honoring yourself.
When one does not feel well, the first and best thing to do is stop eating, as all animals do. Most dis-ease comes from purification of undigested food. The medicine you describe will impair digestion by reducing peristalsis, and all alopathic medicines create an acid ph which leads to proliferation of pathogenic organisms in the GI tract.
If you are severly constipated than take ozonated magnesium or germanium 132 to release nascent oxygen and dissolve mucoloid plaque from the intestines and colon.
I have not taken pharmaceuticals for 15 years, all illnesses can be conquered through yoga practice, pranayam, and blessings of mahadev.
