Understanding yoga hurts my brain, help me

Confused Yogi,

Even the people who study the classical yogic texts for years find contradictions in them
and can’t get intuitive view. The reason is that whatever you study intellectually
(from books etc) is secondary knowledge. Even if your Guru explains you some things
orally, still it is secondary knowledge. The true knowledge , or wisdom as some call it,
only comes from ‘direct experience’. Direct experience means intuitive knowledge which
doesn’t come through any of the sensory organs. This can happen in deep meditative
state. A guru can guide his discipline on the meditation technique but the disciple would
have to follow the technique and realize the truth himself. Anything apart from direct
experience (intuition of reality through deep meditation) is secondary knowledge.

Ancient Hindu sciences (such as Ayurveda,Jyotish etc) were conceived in deep meditative
states by sages whereas modern day scientists conduct their research using logic and
maths. There is limit to what logic and maths alone can achieve. The supreme
understanding comes from direct experience only.
