If you read through the India related yoga teacher training threads in this forum, you will observe some rather (choose your word: disgusting|hilarious|unethical|immature) conduct on behalf of current students, former students, administrators, and even teachers. One's mind might quickly formulate the idea that all yoga teacher training programs in India are terrible based upon what is going on in these threads. And just as many teacher trainings here in the states are exactly that (terrible), no doubt some in India are as well.
However, there are plenty of absolutely fantastic yoga teacher training programs in India. Separating the wheat from the chaff may be difficult and I have pondered removing posts in various threads. But I have come to the conclusion that each thread offers up a variety of hints as to what sort of students these teacher trainings are producing and what sort of "teachers" are running them.
There was a time when lineage was incredibly important in yoga and in some circles, that remains so. There are some people on this forum that share their knowledge and wisdom in a manner that makes me want to seek out whoever it was who finally gave them permission to call themselves a teacher. And the opposite is true as well.
