Yoga while driving

Chanting mantras is a very good idea , I used to chant when walking

oooh, ooh – what do you think of this:

using the ‘3-mirror check’ as a concentration/mindfulness exercise?

As in, try to check your mirrors one more time per mile than you normally do, being open to the new information this offers you and being compassionate for the drivers you find there.

i think yoga while driving is too risky. Its best done during early morning or if not in the evenings. but mornings will be best.

I try to sometimes but I feel in Los Angeles it is just to dangerous to meditate in any form?

I do deep abdominal breathing, Bhastrika while driving

Best avoid the headstand and fish

The rest?

Well keep breathing

You can do deep breathing but I would not recommend anything else.

[QUOTE=siva;20403]Hi Folks,

Is it not at least part of the objective of yoga to incorporate practice with mundane, everyday tasks. If I practice yogic breathing while I walk or rake leaves, fold laundry, unload groceries, etc., how am I not in the moment? Also, how am I not doing yoga?

It’s the same with driving. When sitting in a car, plane or train, I focus not only on the the adominal breath (Pandara, very good), but also bandas. Because it’s usually quite prolonged, it’s a great opportunity to get get into it very deeply.

We should always be looking for opportunities to incorporate yoga with everything we do. This is not a lack of focus, but in fact just the opposite.

Hello Sir

I continually change and try to be adaptive to my environment while driving.

i try to keep my awareness open , listening to intuition , is there danger at the next intersection ,… is there an old lady parked in her car with a puncture who needs a gentlemans help to change the tyre… is there a child in danger who needs to be rescued from risk … i scan the environment as i drive … is there anything spirit wants me to find along the way … will spirit highlight anything to give me messages along the way … etc

i also do root lock , pelvic exercises and bhandas when i come to a red light

i might also switch modes , between externalised awareness outside the car , and internalised awareness within me , how do i feel , what do i need etc.

i might also do light work as i drive , manifesting light around me to protect me , or sending light to people or places as i travel .

multitasking… i guess so … not bad for a man huh

and with time … what i do now will change as awareness grows

hari om tat sat
.

who needs sky diving when you can do padmasana on cruise control and win a darwin award.

To spend an hour a day doing nothing but focusing on the present, here and now - being fully engaged in the moment…I can’t think a better way to have a yogic experience.
