A flash of lightening in a Summer cloud

Hiya people - nice to meet you all :-D.

Looking for some advice if anyone would mind providing some…

Am of a Zenn Buddhist inclination - do not, more’s the pity, follow it strictly (find myself all too often tempted by the more gratifying aspects of samsara…) but attempt to apply aspects as often as possible within my everyday life and definately can feel and see the resulting positivity.

Generally contentedly natured type but do find - usually when mindfulness goes out of the window - it difficult to maintain consistently. Tend to be very much all or nothing. Usually either in love with or cursing - then regretting cursing and feeling rubbish about it, the world and either 100% confidence in the spreading of peace and love or quite introspective and self doubting.

Have had some basic guidance, via internet and books, on meditation but having difficulty getting started with it and maintaining any kind of routine at all.

I basically have no experience with Yoga whatsoever - have attempted to follow some youtube sessions but never been to a class or had any professional guidance with it.

Would really appreciate any information regarding yoga and meditation available.

Thanks very much.

Maybe you do not need “information” on yoga or meditation. Personal experience could be a much better thing. So get out there and find a yoga class or a meditation group and give it a try. In the process, you might just find out that this will help you get started and maintain a routine. And never ever doubt that you are a valuable person who can make a difference. Although ephemeral, a star at dawn, a bubble in a stream, and a flash of lightening in a summer cloud each have their own merit.

Hi, Star@Dawn,
One of your comments resonated with me in particular –

or cursing - then regretting cursing and feeling rubbish about it,

– so I hope on occasion you forgive yourself for a setback or a mistake, and carry forward. Allowing yourself to have highs and lows while you continue with a discipline, returning to it just one more time than you fall from it, is part of the path.
I hope that as you continue you will find ways to bring more and more of your life into line with what you know to be the best of you.
