Accelerating the healing process?

I’ve posted before about a minor injury (tennis elbow) that I’m attempting to recover from. This is not such an easy task given that the amount of physical work that my job requires consistantly exceeds what my elbows can do without causing pain. Progress has been slow at best.

What I’m wondering is if any of you people have any ideas on how to better enable the body to heal itself.

The obvious answers in my mind are dietary changes (although my knowledge of nutrition is limited at best, so suggestions are very welcome!), 8 hours of sleep every night and drinking plenty of fluids. I have also been advised on cold showers/baths to help the immune system (and do a whole lot of other mumbo-jumbo that’s supposed to speed things up). Also attempting to promote blood flow to the injured areas as much as possible, although I am beginning to question if there’s a way to do this without irritating these elbows further.

I don’t mean to whine about this and I appologise if it sounds that way. I just need a second, and third and seventy-fourth opinion on this stuff.

Any opinions or suggestions?

Have you tried accupuncture yet?

Once you view your process as “mumbo-Jumbo” the effectiveness is reduced about 80%.

I’ll stick by what’s offered here.

Pandara, no I haven’t tried acupuncture. Maybe I should.

InnerAthlete, I’m simply hoping for further advice as I’m still seeing very little improvement, after taking those responses into consideration.

You may call me Gordon.

Your reply answers my second sentence but not my first.
I am certain you will get other feedback here - over time.
But there is, of course, a distinction between “consideration” and “doing”.

Absolutely no harm in trying.

Due to my work (graphic designer and lots of mouse work) I suffer occasionaly from carpal tunnel syndrome in my right wrist and accupunture is the only solution everytime. For me, that is.

Gordon,

Your first sentence I had given little consideration to when I replied as your comment appeared misguided (as much misguided by my poor choice of words as anything else).
However, it occured to me several hours ago that further understanding of the effects of any treatment is crucial to it’s effectiveness.

In short: you were right.

I highly recommend it. I used to go weekly when I lived in South Florida and it helped me with everything from chronic knee pain (thanks ashtanga lol) and sadness.
