Hey gang!
First time poster…
I work out at sea, so dont have much access to instructors. As a result im mostly self taught, although ive been into class to get my bad habits corrected!
Im starting to add Crow stance & Handstands, but not sure where they should go in my sequence. Ive been doing them after Sun salutations & standing poses, but before I hit the floor & move to seated poses…
Is that alright or is there an accepted place it should go?
S.
The placement of these poses you are adding depends on two elements; one is the potential for injury to the body when they are not properly sequenced and the other is the intention for the pose(s) in the first place.
Since I could not possibly know your intention, other than the run of the mill “flexibility, stress relief, calm, strength, lean muscles mass” reasons I can respond only to the first.
Inversion may follow standing poses. When transitioning from Surya Namaskar, standing poses turn the head before Sirsasana/Sarvangasana. This is completely appropriate.
Thanks for the response!
My intention for the poses is to be able to do freestanding handstand pushups at some point. Besides yoga i do mostly bodyweight training.
So I am looking for the strength & balance… And progression!

Sharp21,
Good luck with the whole freestanding part in handstand - I’ve been trying for handstand for more than a year and can barely stay up for more than a 5 - 10 seconds before I lose balance. I certainly couldn’t add a push-up or anything else while doing it. You may need to start by using a wall and prepare for a lot of practice.
For strength building, I don’t think using the wall will make too much difference though, it may add extra resistance as you rub your feet up and down the wall.
Have fun with it
Jez
Im definately using a wall. I know its gonna take some time, so no time like the present to get started!

I can do free handstand, and still I am not happy. :o
