Am I ready for the TTC?

A little background. I’ve been doing yoga for 16 years. I mostly do yoga at home & i don’t really do “intense” yoga. I stick to basic poses. I occasionally go to to class around the city to give myself a bit more of a challenge. About 6 months ago, i decided to take the TTC program. A fellow yogi friend of mine said i should be taking more classes, that doing yoga at home is a bit more restrictive because you don’t learn anything new. She got me all in a panic that i might not be ready to take the TTC. It starts in a little over a month, and now I’ve been taking classes left & right trying to get ready. I have an interview on Wednesday with the Owner of the yoga studio. He said we’ll talk for a bit & then do about 1 min. of yoga. Now all of a sudden, i am doubting myself. I’m so scared he’s going to ask me to do something i am not familiar with!

Is it normal to get nervous before your TTC? Am i ready for the TTC?

I Was raised in a Hindu family, so my knowledge of yoga philosophy is well grounded. I also have techniques for Kundilini meditation & have been using those techniques for a long time. I’m just nervous i guess…and all of a sudden feeling insecure.

Any words of wisdom would be great!

You are going to be fantastic.
You are going to be fantastic because you care.

On Wednesday you will satisfy Eleanor Roosevelt.
You will do one thing this day that scares you.
You may be overdue.

Enjoy your journey.

You are ready.

You are doing a teacher training course, any poses that are new to you or that there are not being done correctly can be taught and practiced.

I enjoy the quote " it is yoga practice, not yoga perfect!"

In yoga, we are eternally the student. Don’t let your ego’s doubts stop you from pursuing something you are interested in- naturally it is easier to claim unworthiness, but we all come from the same place where at one time we knew less than we do now.

Enjoy your interview- instead of thinking of yourself as being on trial, consider whether or not you trust the person you are meeting with to set you up for further learning. This is also your opportunity to interview them.

Enjoy the moment, be honest with yourself and the interviewer and you can’t go wrong.

All the best!
Jen

Going to classes is a great way to learn about teaching techniques…if you are intending to become a yoga teacher yourself.
When you go to classes observe how teachers teach…the words they use/do they demo first then watch/do they lead…demo at same time…do they mirror the class or not/do they use clients names/sanskrit or English???
also observe how the clients are responding to the teacher…are they following/do they seem to understand easily/are they smiling/are they struggling/keeping up/looking bored???
Going to classes can teach you a great deal about teaching…and give you loads of ideas about how you want to teach.
But because you are asking …You probably are ready for a TTC…so stop panicking.
Good luck.

Thank you for your wonderful replies. I already feel much better about it. Most of my anxieties have simmered down because i keep repeating “I will satisfy Eleanore Roosevelt”…hahaha…i think it’s working!
