Hi, I’m thinking of moving to Amsterdam and I wondered if anybody could tell me anything about the yoga scene there, I can only find a few studios online. Also are classes always taught in Dutch or English as well? ‘Fraid I haven’t learnt Dutch yet! Any advice would be deeply appreciated… :smiley:

Hello, hello,

I am a yogi in Amsterdam and have been to many studios here. Most classes are taught in English, but I’ve definitely been in classes where I have been the only English speaker and the other students preferred Dutch…so Dutch it was. Even those classes have been fun and relatively easy to follow…especially, if you do yoga often.

We also just opened a boutique studio here that teaches yoga & pilates in Amsterdam…all classes are taught in English: Breathe Amsterdam (Yoga & Pilates).

If you know where you’ll be living, I can definitely recommend some other studios in your neighborhood.

Hi Erica,

I’m wondering if you can recommend me a place in Almere/Nederland for begin my firs yoga course .
PS: I’m registered to a gym that has also yoga classes(feetforfree- I know is in Amsterdam as well) but I don’t know if that’s the best way to start.

Many thanks for your reply it’s really helpful. I’m a yoga teacher so I’m glad I should be able to teach in English, until I learn some Dutch :slight_smile: Your studio looks really cool, I’ll definitely visit. I don’t know where I’ll be living yet but when I do, if you don’t mind, I’ll ask you for your recommendations…

Hi Erica,

Well finally… it’s 9 months later and I’ve moved to Amsterdam! I’m living on Singel at the Centraal Station end. Are there any studios you can recommend in the area? So far I?ve been to Delight. Any suggestions would be most appreciated :slight_smile:
