Anulom-vilom

hi,

my planet shani is bad. i started doing anulom-vilom about 2 weeks ago.
i noticed that it had bad effects. i started quarelling with everyone.
so i stopped practicing anulom-vilom. any suggestions.

Mt Guru suggests that when beginning Anulom Vilom one should only practice five cycles, each cycle being one inhalation and exhalation with each nostril. He recommends the breathing pattern ratio: in for 1, hold for 4, out for 2, trying to hold your breath for as long as comfortably possible, and keeping that ratio. Doing that once in each nostril is one cycle. I don’t have enough authority to give you much advice but based on my own experience when I started Anulom vilom I always did asans for a while first and did the Anulom Vilom towards the end. I found nothing but extremely good results. I think it may be helpful to be warmed up and have your prana flowing already before you start, and then not overdoing it. Thats just my guess though

Can you describe the practice you do, and how often you do?
Do you have a teacher or are you practicing from a book?

Can someone explain how breathing through one nostril then the other can affect your personality? How can this be a danger?

The little I know , breathing through the right nostril affects the left side of brain ,the logical side , It is said to increase blood sugar levels , we use more oxygen when breathing through right side , It is the surya sun channel and therefore is related to the pingala nadi and is heating in nature.
Breathing through the left nostril affects the right side of the brain ,the creative ,imaginative it is therfore related to the ida nadi ,the moon energy , cooling in nature.
So depending on which nostril dominates or we force breath through this will affect our system . Ideally we have balance as the dominant nostril is said to alternate every four hours or so ,this is not true for alot of us , nadi shodona is good pranayama to bring balance. I guess dangers could be to do with balance and nervous system ,especially with the stronger rhythms of pranayama ,overheating the brain for example .
