hi. i want complete information dedicated to Dhyan Yoga. Any idea? what is the best yogic diet for a whole day? Please no answers in code words like carbohydrates, fats, etc. I want names of exact food items(which type of vegetables, fruits, etc.).
debu123: The best yogic diet depends on your constitution (such as determined for ayurveda, for example), where you live and foods available, and what your goals are. Where are you from?
This Dhyan Yoga, are you referring to the practice of dhyana, as in meditation? Or a particular style of yoga that you have heard about?
A sattvic diet, I would say. Freshly cooked vegetables, not too many spices, rice and fresh breads, no processed or frozen foods. Also no meat, no garlic, onions etc. (basically avoid food that is claimed to be tamas or rajas). Avoid caffeine and sugar and eat only small quantities (half of the stomach with solid food, one fourth water and one fourth empty for better digestion). Eat slowly, chew a lot and do not read or watch TV while eating…
But I know the word Dhyan also as a part of the meditation process mentioned by Patanjali.
