Any Yogis out there with Parkinson's?

Hey everyone. I was diagnosed with PD when I was 28 and I’m almost 34 now. Been doing yoga off and on for the past couple of years but very seriously for the past 8 months. Currently I do about a 2 hour practice everyday.

Just wondered if any of Parkinson’s patients are out there doing yoga and what kind of success they are having.

Hi rtucker,

Welcome to the forum. I don’t have Parkinson’s but was wondering if you feel that yoga has been very beneficial for it? And do you incorporate much meditation and pranayama into your practice?

Well, I do feel much much better in my on times and my off times I could say are not as bad. I have no incorporated pranayama into my practice yet however I am excited to start. I just purchased Iyengar’s light on yoga which is like the Yoga bible. That guy is an inspiration. I am excited and look forward each day to my yoga practice and consistently see and feel improvements. I’ll be honest, part of me hopes that 7 years of hard core, dedicated yoga practice could result in the end of this disease, however I tend to dream big, hehe. It would be nice to meet some other PD yogis who has some years under their belts.
