Anything musical which can reduce stress?

Hi folks…

I am suffering a lot from stress because of my work nature and my doctor adviced me for yoga, meditation etc. If anyone please help with some musical stuff which i can use with my yoga practice?? I am expecting something spiritual and divine!!

Expectation leads to disappointment.

Spirit and divinity are found within, therefore the quest is intrinsic not extrinsic. For some people an extrinsic “thing” helps for others it distracts. As I am the latter I don’t use music in my practice. I like music very much but listening to it is an entirely separate experience.

gordon

is there a relaxing type of music you like? for some it may be to sip a glass of wine while relaxing with music, maybe you might enjoy laying down and listening to music. There are many cd’s with mantras you may find you like, you can try that. also, according to yogi bhajan, a kundalini yoga instructor, the most powerful instrument is the Gong. Some people meditate with that.

Also, one time I went to a drum circle and at the end of it they did a drum healing or somehting like that. So I had four people standing around me beating a drum, one in front, one behind me, to my right, and to my left. all moving up and down in rhythm. For some reason I could not stop smiling while they were doing this, and no need for me to know the reason.

my best to you

You could go to the web sites Pandora or Last.FM and do a search under “ambient” “relaxation” etc.

Brahms - Requiem
Corelli - Concerti Grossi opus 6

Vaughan Williams - The Lark Ascending
John Coltrane - Naima
Jim Hall - Circles
Pat Metheny - Map of the World
Pat Metheny & Charlie Haden - Beyond the Missouri Sky
Sigur Ros
Fingerstyle guitar by Martin Taylor, Tommy Emmanuel, Jim Earp

I love Tony Scott’s “Music for Zen Meditation”

try Sheila Chandra or Deva Premal

Yoga is a physical discipline. It uses the body and breathing to develop self-awareness and mental clarity. No other discipline quite like yoga because it utilized the body, mind and spirit, all in one practice.

Why not try Yoga Nidra?
