Asana after hernia surgery

I had surgery to repair and inguinal hernia on Friday, and am now able to move around with more comfort and ability.
Before this i have had a daily asana practice for nearly ten years.

I am curious to know what(if any) asana might be safe to take while i am recovering…
I am aware enough to know that twists and deep forward bending is out of the question, but would like to put together a light program that would leave me feeling as though im not drying up from lack of exercise.

Any help would be lovely…
And please, anyone else share their similar stories.
Thank you!
Nathan

i had hernia surgery two months back i would like to know the poses i could perfom

perhaps you could try the 10 that innerathlete has posted immediately above your post?
i think this is an excellent place to start if your post-operative doctor has given you the OK.

I had a “trifecta” of hernias repaired in May, two inguinal and an umbilical. My yoga teacher suggested Judith Lasater’s book on restorative yoga “Relax & Renew” and I loved it. I had to choose carefully, but was able to add postures as my recovery progressed. I also used Sam Dworkis’s “Recovery Yoga” in the later stages of convalescence. After eight weeks I was back in class, but still being careful. Today, almost three months later, I am fully participating in my regular classes. Take it easy, don’t rush and all will be fine.
