I practice yoga at a very low level but I really feel the well-being every time after a session.
I have started to learn more and more about the chakra system.
I have found to have a excessive 2nd chakra.
I have check so what would be the best asanas and practices that could help to kind of “close” this chakra.
But what I find mostly on the internet is asanas that open the chakra, like the Cobra.
so I’m not sure that this is what I should do.
anyone have idea of the series and asanas I should concentrate to? or any advices or direction will be welcome.
thanks
From what I understand of kundalini, you don’t have an “excessive” amount of the 2nd chakra (or any other chakra), it’s merely that the chakras aren’t balanced properly. Therefore, one should focus on developing the other chakras rather than trying to “close” one particular chakra.
One way that this is done is to practice visualizing the “spinal nerve” - the channel that carries the prana energy through the body all the way from the root chakra up to the sixth chakra (the “third eye”). Not all the way up to the crown chakra, since this can lead to an opening of the crown chakra before you can “integrate” the experience. Just visualize the prana flowing up through this channel on the deep inhale and down on the deep exhale.
Another approach is to focus your attention on each of the chakras in turn from bottom to top. If you feel that one is “overdeveloped,” then you can just spend a shorter amount of time focusing your concentration on that particular chakra.
That is what I would suggest anyway. Others may have other suggestions.
ok that’s interesting thanks Zenguy
I’ll try this. to visualize the “spinal nerve” is it located right on the spine or just in the middle of the body?
indeed it makes sense to develop the other chakra.
Maybe I should practice more the asanas that open the root and 3rd chakra.
Well, if you want to focus on one chakra to start developing first, I would suggest the Heart chakra. Some systems of pranayama teach that this is the one that should be used to “integrate” all the others. So, first you develop the heart chakra, then you move on to the other chakras as matched pairs - 3 & 5, 2 & 6, and then 1 & 7.
Any asanas that focus on opening up the chest area can help with this: fish, camel, even tadasana.

Depends on what is going on with the ohysical body and with energy body…each case in individual…
Generally, asana is a physical body practice, so to say gross body. Chakras are part of a pranic body. But they are connected at some point.
Pranayama, meditation and visualisation is what works on chakras.
For the second chakra you may try Seed Manta - Vam, Mantra for the back pain Omm Tara Swaha. Visualization would include moon reflection in the wter, and all kind of water visualization (sight, sound, smell, etc)
