Asanas to avoid with "Diastasis Recti" condition

Namastay Everyone,

I have been having “Diastasis Recti” since after my 1st pregnancy in2006. I have been doing some yoga asanas before pregnancy too just 20min every week which included the following.

1.Padanguli naman(toe bending)
2Goolf naman(ankle bending)
3.goolf chakra(ankle rotation)
4.goolf chooran(anklr crank)
5.januphalak akarshan(knee cap contraction)
6.mushtika bandhan(hand clenching)
7.manibandha naman(wrist bending)
8.skanda chakra(shoulder socket rotation)
9.greeva sanchalan(neck movements)
10.nauka sanchalasan
11.chakki sanchalasan
12.supta pavan mukta asana
13.pada sanchalanasana
14.naukasana
15.shashank bhujangasana 6 rounds
16.Vipareeta karni asana
17surya namaskaras(6 rounds on each side)
I’m doing the above asanas not that regularly after the baby is born. I started doing them may be only after a year slowly. Which has increased my stamina after pregnancy. So, I’m grateful.I am trying to do every day but most of the times I only end up doing 2/3 times a week and not at all some weeks may be once a week.Inspite of these I haven’t noticed even a slight change in my “diastasis recti” condition.
Pls tell me if any of the asanas are not supposed to be doing with this condtion and that might lead to more damage. Also somebody please tell me what are the specific asanas for this “diastasis recti”, that I should do and avoid doing.

Thanks in advance
MK.

As best I can recall Diastis Recti is a separation of muscle tissue in the abdomen often accompanying (following) the birthing process. In many it heals on its own.

I’m not familiar with the asana practice you’ve outlined and you’ve not mentioned how long ago your pregnancy was (was the last one in 2006??) so it’s difficult to provide much direction. I’ll certainly ask my peers and see what feedback I receive however I’d venture to say that prone weight on the belly is not a grand idea. One has to be careful with what one does (abdominally) as some things can help and others, not so much - which is likely why you’ve asked in the first place.

ThanQ. my last pregnancy was in 2008 april. and your guess is right that “Diastis Recti is a separation of muscle tissue in the abdomen often accompanying (following) the birthing process”. just a quick link with nice figure for anyone who’d be interested in is at
befitmom.com/abdominal_separation.html and ThanQ for replying.
