Ashram in India near of beach

I think I need a change of my living. I try to look for an ashram to learn healthy living - yoga, healthy food. I prefer to be near of beach to have possibility to swim. Of course there is a problem that I can not pay a lot.
I thank for any suggestion in advance.

You do not need to be in an ashram to do yoga or eat healthily.
Just go to some local yoga classes, walk or cycle instead of driving, drink water instead of packaged sweetened drinks, eat fresh whole foods avoid processed and packaged foods.

If you are looking for an ashram in India near a beach…then be careful when walking down to the water…Indian beaches are regularly used as toilets and garbage disposal…
The beaches in Goa are mostly good but many of the yoga schools are not residential and are not cheap.

In my experience of ashrams in India the food was not healthy…yes vegetarian…but over cooked mushy veg and white rice…very little/no raw or lightly cooked foods, no whole grains and way too much butter and/or oil…not enough protein and too much simple carbs and too much fat, not enough fresh or raw veg/fruits.

Hi Yogacambodia
Thanks for your suggestion
I know about healthy digestion of Indians which I saw on the beaches in India.
The local classes of yoga are expensive, cold for me to exercise outside and of course I do not suppose to be at Goa.
Take care
Ivana

You may want to look for any classes in Gokarna. I hear it is not as touristy, and the beaches are beautiful. You don’t need an ashram if you have a good teacher, and you can always find a maid for cheap who will cook you a clean, sattvic, balanced meal.

I have nothing else to add to this post except that it is -8C with 27 km/h winds and blowing snow where I am right now. Tonight I will dream of waking up and doing my yoga and meditation practice on some patio alongside a beach in sunny, tropical south India.

I came from Gokarna 3 weeks ago.

Suryadaya, I am with you…a beach sounds good! I am hosting a Yoga Detox retreat in Florida in May and I can’t wait!

Can you name couple of ashrams in India which provide food with too much fat? And also what are the good sources of protein which should be provided by the ashrams? I’m sure most of the chefs/cooks at an ashram in India, knowingly or unknowingly, hardly care about simple carbs and complex carbs. Do you?
