Ashtanga and Vata Dosha

I practice ashtanga vinyasa yoga 5/6 times a week at evenings for about 18 months. I am a vata person, so it was very difficult for me to adapt to this dynamic practice and many times I ended with a sensation of excessive energy until very recently when things started calming down and I finally found the right rhythm for me.

Now the temperature is starting to increase and I thought I could change the practice for the mornings. I do not know if this could be good for me because of the vata constitution. Your opinion would be valuable. What do you think?

To anyone considering changing the time for asana to mornings I will say that’s fine but keep it “clean” and don’t mix times. That is, either do asana in the morning or in the afternoon/evening, but don’t change back and forth. Especially if vata is your dominating dosha, you need orderliness in your practice or your system will be upset and unbalanced - boring, I know ;-).

Doing asana first thing in the morning demands that you go to bed earlier, at least if you have a regular job and have to get up earlier to practice. When I changed to morning practice it had a large impact on the rest of my life, as I had to plan my days differently.

Thank your for your reply, you answered my question, and I think I will keep the afternoon practice for now since it is a big commitment and I do not want to mess more than necessary with my vata constitution, since things are working now at afternoon.
