Well… she was very egotistical. She taught verbally only- she never demonstrated any poses. And verbally, she wasn’t all that descriptive, and wouldn’t challenge herself to re-word things when her teachings were not conveying what she was trying to communicate. When someone was doing a pose incorrectly she would often yell at them. Several times she would say things like, “One day, I will show you all how this pose is really done” and laugh. She had pictures of herself doing very advanced poses all over her studio. She was basically an ego-maniac and a really poor teacher.
She also injured me pretty badly from pushing me very deeply into a pose, despite me telling her it was too much. Her classes were extremely expensive, and I could not attend the last few of the classes I had purchased because she had injured me and she would not refund my money because that was her policy. Not exactly happy about that.
BUT all that being said- I did get a feel for Atma Vikasa, and I actually liked it. I found it to be a great companion to my regular Ashtanga practice. I would 100% try again with another teacher. There really isn’t too much on the internet about it, and I would love to hear other’s experiences- if anyone has any?
