Hi All,
I find the balancing poses very challenging (for eg standing hand to toe poses), how can we improve our sense of balance.
are there any simple poses that one can stay in for a longer duration that would help the balancing poses.
Thanks

Aspirant,
I too have problems with balancing poses, and I’ve managed to determine that it is largely due to my weak core. >.< Strengthen the core, find stability in the core, and that will help. I’m interested in what others who are more experienced have to say.
Only practicing them can make your balance better. Standing hand to the toe I consider an advanced pose. If you feel comfortable - start with tree pose and cancer’s pose few times in the morning (it is usually better:) and few times during the day.
and try to play you poses no perform them:)
Good luck!
Thanks Joanna63 and citymonk for your replies. I feel I do need to strengthen my core too, but somehow do not enjoy core strenghtening exercises
and city monk I think u mean the dancers’s pose , I actually ended up googling for cancer’s pose and only then i realized. I will try to spend more time practising these two poses. Thanks for the suggestions.
The standing hand to toe pose definitely looks very distant to achieve for me at my current stage.
Assuming you are addressing the three components of balance in asana, the only way to achieve balance is through practicing balance.
If on the other hand you have no idea what the three elements are then there is an additional opportunity for growth in your practice in discovering them and working them.
