Beginning pranayama?

In advance, I apologize if my search was not thorough enough before making this post and this has been discussed previously.

I am a relatively new student of yoga, only having practiced for about a year now. I have been faithfully doing asanas and practicing yoga nidra after each session for the past 9 months. I was wondering if it was too early for me to introduce pranayama, mudra, and bandha into my daily sadhana.

If it is not too soon to begin practicing pranayama for me would you suggest I begin with(after nadi shodhana of course) kapalbhakti(frontal brain cleansing traditionally considered shatkarma) or should I begin with bhastrika? Or should I take another route altogether and begin with ajapa japa or another practice that brings more sensitivity to prana within the arohan / awarohan passages?

As each tradition teaches this differently i would recommend you have a face to face teacher to learn pranayama. If you do not have one them instead i would recommend not to learn from a book but be patient until one arrives. It must be learned from one teacher not several; and one tradition not different ones. It is not too early to introduce pranyama into your practice.

however, be careful with bandhas and advanced pranayama practices. they should not be attempted without doing kapalabhati and nadi shodhana first.

a good way is to start practicing kapalabhati and nadi shodhana, from a reputable teacher or reputable book, for 3 months to purify your nadis before attempting other practices. this will definitely help you in your meditation, health and daily life.
