Best Ashram for Sivananda TTC in India

I want to do the Sivananda TTC in one of the Ashrams in India.

Neyyar Dam (Kerala) was attracting me most at first mainly because of the wonderful natural surroundings; however it seems to be quite overcrowded and leaking Individuality.

According to this blog Madurai is the far better option:

Anyone here who has also experienced both Ashrams?

I have only been to the one in Rishikesh. Looked solid and neat in both program and dedication. Have you checked for TTC’s there?

I think Sivananda ashrams do tend to be in beautiful, natural surroundings, so i think you will find this whichever one you chose to go to. TTC in Neyyar Dam can be very busy with up to 350 people attending. It has certain advantages being the biggest ashram with most comprehensive facilities, and i have experienced absolutely excellent teachers working there too. However if you require a smaller, more intimate experience i think UttarKAshi would be a good choice, in the Himalyas, but do be prepared to wait up to 9months for a place as the classes are only 30 people and some of those places are reserved for local people.

Hello friends,

I am practicing yoga for last 10 years and I wanted to do a good teacher training course for very long.
I wanted to go to India for the TTC as I wanted to have the knowledge directly from the roots. I wanted to go to Sivananada but I heard many mixed comments so after long search on internet and talking to many schools in India I did my TTC at Ananda Yoga Vedanta Ashram, North India.
It is beautiful ashram and a perfect place for those interested in Yoga and spirituality. The atmosphere is very peaceful, the teachers were very inspiring and caring. I learnt alot about teaching, correcting, alignments apart from the right principles
They only accept 15 students in a course, the course was an eye opener, I saw many differences in Yoga in Europe and Yoga in India, If you are serious about Yoga The I would highly recommend it, you can check them at anandayogashram.org

Namaste

You will find many places in india where they teach Yoga & Meditations on their own way. But this place which is in the centre of Bangalore offers
you tailormade residential courses as well as provide good food(satvic) & open up the new avenues of spirituality where many westerners like to feel.
This place is known as Nishane School of Spiritual Sciences. To know more log on to nishaneschool.com .They have an ashram in Rishikesh also…
I really feel to send the message to the person in need coz of the knowledge & the good work happening there…

hi
thanks for sharing the important information which is very useful

Thanks for a great thread - I’ve been thinking about attending Sivananda TTC in India.

i just did TTC in new york with Sivananda, most of the students were not at all close to being sattvic in their conversation and behavior

when i got over hating this I grew to love them, but their discussions were often petty and rajasic

the TTC itself was lovely.

Hi all

also trying to pick the best ashram for a TTC

anyone got knowledge about Rishikesh Yog Peeth , they seem to have a very old history and tradition

Sivananda also looks good …comparing what i found so far in $ AUD

Yoga Vidya Dham -------- 4 weeks - $ 750
Rishikesh Yoga peeth – 6 weeks - $ 1000
Sivananda ------------------- 4 weeks - $ 2400
Svyasa University - ------ 4 weeks - $ 700
Satyananda-----------------16 weeks - $1500

prefer a longer course than a short one… want quality.

opinions ?

The prices seem to be very high at sivananda. For a longer course with quality also see Tulasidalam and yogapoint.

Try Bihar School of Yoga, Munger, Bihar or Parmarth Niketan Rishikesh, or Kaivalyadham , Lonawala, Maharashtra. These are three of the best schools apart from Sivananda. I dont think the first three have sought YA registration -But they are really good. I have been to Parmarth and Kaivalyadham , so I can testify to the quality of their teaching. Kaivalyadhan has TTC in My - 6 week course. BSI in August - 3 week (one in April also thats in Hindi), Parmarth has its course in March - it s only for those who are experienced Yoga adepts.

I also think the Sivananda Ashram in Madurai is better than the one in Neyyar Dam. I’ve been in both ashrams and I actually loved the one in Madurai. I wrote about the ashram in my blog.
