Best time for what

Hubert brought somethign to my attention and I dont know if my questions relate to the thread so I will make another.

I know the best time to meditate is whenever we can and the best time for yoga is the same. But given all things being Ideal, when would be the best time for us to do certain yoga things? It would make since to me that it would be beneficial to do most of our stretching in the evening since the body is more pliable and looser. Also, since we are in repair stage when we rest if our postures are done shortly before then we go to sleep then we can sleep with good alingment and out body can repair and correct the posture eaiser? but if we did poses in the morning then our day would wreck the work we have done so we go into sleep/repair mode with bad alingments so our body is healed in bad alignment? and since our mind is quieter in the morning it would be easier to center ourselves for meditation whiile our body was repaired the night before which will make the mediation easier because we are more aligned? ANd then the begining of the day would give us the mental outlook to carry ourselves through the day? Did I mumble too much, anyone got any insight into this?
thanks

I concur with most of what you said. The exception for me is when I plan to do a lot of physical activity during the day, I then find it helpful to do my yoga session early, before, to get everything stretched, I find it helps to prevent the risk of injury. I also feel that it helps for preventing stiff and sore muscles the following day.

I have found I am much better at doing sun salutations in the morning and any asana that requires deep stretching in the evening. Not only am I much looser in the evening but I find sun salutations first thing in the morning gives me more energy to start my day. I am naturally more of an evening person and actually do better with meditation in the late afternoon or evening.

Just wanted to add something I forgot to mention about my own practice. I have had several really good sessions first thing in the morning but they were literally first thing. I would get up and eat like a banana or something small like and start right away and the resulting session went quite well. I was not nearly as open as I usually am later in the day but my arms and shoulders were not burning like they tend to do in the mornings. This is rare for me but as I remember it I was pressed for time and was doing something very physical for the rest of the day and felt the Yoga was a must to prepare myself for it.

I’m the same way! I get up, drink a bunch of water and then just go! If I can’t stretch very far, I just leave it alone and continue through the practice. I rather stretch at the end of day after sitting at work anyway!

I thank you for your replies, it is always nice to hear of others experince. I hope you understand what I mean when I say this, I am lookking to see if someone has the knowledge of what the science of Yoga thinks about the issue or if it has been addressed it at all in the ancient teachings, if so where… In my journey I find it hard to get some of the answers I seek, such as what yoga thinks about the way we sleep, for example, would face down close us and suffocate us, what we sleep on, is that important, etc…I am trying to get to the heart of yoga, its roots, instead of the pop culture of yoga, sometimes we have to sift through the weeds to find the flowers, but in doing so we appreciate the flowers that much more.
enjoy the journey

Well some of the things I have been told that I may or may not follow are;

best time to do yoga is sunup or sundown
not supposed to drink water 1 hour before
not supposed to eat 2 hours before.
