Bikram Yoga and sore shoulders

I really pushed myself hard in the bikram today and I have sore shoulders. Bikram is just stretching and reaching the shoulders all the time but they really feel sore. I thought: “How could I have possibly injured my shoulders?” I just was reaching and stretching with my arms–nothing that should make them sore.

Question: Is it safe to continue bikram with sore shoulders?
they said I am realigning my body. this is a good thing, but I don’t want to cause any injuries.

I believe you had anothe rpost about weight lifting or weight training. I can’t recall. And was that post referencing some knee issues? If I’m off base pardon me it’s been a long night.

I personally am not a Bikram practitioner. In fact I’m not an advocate. But I do respect a students right to pick a practice that will bring them closer to their dharma - their purpose for being here. And no one can tell you that but your own heart.

You have some intuition about this otherwise you would not have posted. But we can’t suppose what your life lessons are. Perhaps they are joint ailments and surgery.

One question I believe worthwhile asking about your yoga practice is this: If I am injured or have very stiff muscles (hamstrings for example) is this practice appropriate for that condition? That is to say does the practice allow for modifying poses in a healthy way to honor where your body is from moment to moment, day to day? It’s only the ignorant who think Monday’s flexibility carries over to Tuesday. Just as moods change so too does the body.

What do you think?
