Bikram Yoga Lovers

are there any threads on bikram yoga here? or any bikram yoga lovers?

There are lots of posts about skin rashes, skin problems, sweating, hydration problems all related to bikram yoga…also many on knee issues and lower back issues…

Be careful…hydrate well, take care of your skin and do not lock your knees…

I do bikram everyday, sometimes twice… I’ve never experienced rashes or anything along the lines… And I make sure to always lock the knee… Knee and lower back problems only come from not doing the posture correctly such as not locking the knee… However hydration is a MUST

Just curious zoek, have you done any other types of yoga before doing bikram? Did you find them too easy?

No I hadn’t tried any other form of yoga, I had don’t pilates but found that quite easy :)… What forms of yoga have you tried?

Basic hatha, kundalini, American gym-yoga:) lame! Slow-flow, but i regularly practice ashtanga, power Vinyasa types. Definitely nice to have a day of restorative or yin yoga when you do rigorous asanas for 6 days though.

Anyway, I ask because pretty much everyone I come across who does bikram only has done bikram or found other yoga “too easy” .

Since you seem to like the physical challenge I suggest you try ashtanga. Many or all would say the most physically demanding practice out there. We also follow strict sequence like bikram except ours is better and fun ! Haha sorry, I just think bikram is the McDonald’s version of ashtanga

Oh by the way… Yogacambodia says do not lock the knee… and you say always lock knee. You guys can argue about that. Just call me when you want to argue about bikram being McDonald’s :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks, I’ll have to give it a go, have you ever tried bikram to compare?

I?ve learned the Pattabhi Jois ashtanga vinyasa asana routines years before trying Bikram asana routines in the heated environment, doing ashtanga vinyasa asana routines in a Bikram environment is a preference of mine, there?s even now three studios in my area that offer this, calling it hot yoga vinyasa.
