hello! i was just wondering if anyone had any input on whether or not Bikram yoga is enough exercise? do i need to add more too it? i try and practice 4-5 times a week! it sure feels like its enough thats for sure. any thoughts??
No one else can say what is the right amount of exercise for anyone else. Some weeks you will have less energy and time, some weeks you will have an overabundance. If what you are doing makes you feel better inside and out, and you have no adverse effects, then practice as you like. If you feel the need to gain more strength or stamina in sweltering heat, go more to class. If you feel aches and pains, or unsteady, or you start feeling a little sick, then go less. Listen to your mind and body first and foremost. Don’t push yourself into postures or exercise routines that don’t feel right, or that aren’t necessary. If you have the energy to sustain the activities in your life, then you probably do not need any extra exercise. There is no rule of law, and your needs will change throughout your day/week/month/year/life. All you have to do is pay attention and you’ll be able to decipher what is right.
Sure feels like the right amount every time I walk out of class. I would recommend changing it up from time to time. Especially if exercise is the ultimate goal.
