Body Recovery?

Does the body need recovery in Yoga Practice.

I began 2 weeks ago. Practicing at home using Meditation for Beginners; by Maritza. This DVD is great intro, it provided mental and physical awareness, it was great. The yoga session followed by meditation is just what I needed to get me started. Then, Thursday, I added Dr. Gabrielle Pelicci Kundalini Yoga. Wow, this dvd is awesome. I loved it, I felt so energized after the very first session. The session built on the previous yoga sessions, except it was intensified, and the relaxed me from head to toe. I slept like a baby. But, the next day, I was so sore. I took off yesterday, and today I am still really sore.

Should I work through the soreness or does the body need to rest?

Also are there any dietary suggestions during yoga practice?

Thank you.

On the gross physical level muscles need time to recover. That has nothing to do with Yoga one way or the other. It is merely an anatomical perspective. Since some Yoga contains asana and that asana practice results in sore muscles, I would suggest students be very gentle in any physical work with those muscles.

Thanks for the reply, I am thinking that the soreness results from underworked muscle activity.
