ever since i was a kid i find it hard to breath through my nose. When i first started yoga i told my teacher(lizzy) about this, but she did not have an answer. So i just continued breathing through my mouth but during relaxation-meditation,or some poses my mouth becomes very dry and i am constantly swolowing to get some moisture in there, and this interfers with consentration to a very large degree.Does anybody have an answer?
Hello Yorky,
Is it because of congestion, or physical obstruction?

If it is really a distraction, try doing some outside practice in your spare time at home. Lay down somewhere comfortable, keep your mouth closed, concentrate on your nose as much as you can, and breath. Take maybe 10-20 deep abdominal breaths and then go on with your day. Practice once a day or a few times a day. With consistency you will become more accustomed to breathing in this way naturally, and be more relaxed also!
Isn’t this a medical question? One of the functions of the nose is to moisturize the breath - which you have discovered. It also acts as a filter.
I’d use a medical doctor to rule out any physical issues. Such as obstruction which was mentioned before.
And then work with a yoga therapist if there are no physical issues. You can certainly practice asana/pranayama without breathing through the nose. But why not learn to breath through the nose if there is no physical reason not to.

thanks siva.
i will give this a couple of months see how it goes
all the best yorky
hi yorki
this is the method of breathing which causes this problem. so by general we can say that change your method of doing breathing.
but remember that it is neccesary that you will not drink water in between breathing otherwise it will create a problem.
for more detail information you will download a book from following link.
