Any expert know the answer ?
How old is your friend?
What is her health and fitness background?
When was delivery?
What is her diet like?
Does she have an existing yoga practice?
Which doctor advised her that nothing could be done?
She’s at her late 40
She’s active person with 2 children but she still goes to gym 2-3 times a week , she has
side headache from young. apart from this she is healthy.
Delivery happened few years ago
She is not a veg. , eats meat and fish
I pull her into yoga 2 months ago, after a month practise she found pranayama helps her a great extend in her headache so she’s a sincere practitioner now , she practise yoga ( asana, pranayama and meditation) for hr each morning
The western doctor said so
Hi Tina,
There are two conditions your friend needs to look into. First I suggest she get tested for blood clots or deep vein thrombosis (DVT). This is a common occurrence after pregnancy. By itself a clot is not dangerous, but if it breaks loose and travels to the lungs it can be. Second, she may just have varicose vein. Again, not at all uncommon after pregnancy. I am a yoga teacher and do not know of any viable treatments, but I would suggest something such as legs up the wall or other poses that take the legs higher than the heart for the purpose of relieving any pain or swelling. Remember that veins take blood to the heart so this helps relieve symptoms and reverse the effects of gravity.
If you’d like more information about DVT or varicose veins, you can visit the Vascular Disease Web site at vdf dot org (www dot vdf dot org). I am the editor of their newsletter and Web site so I know some things about vascular disease, but I would really encourage her to find out about clots first. Good luck!
Namaste-
