Burnout help

hello everyone

i suffer from burnout, it used to be very strong. since 2 years, my body feels very tense, i have energy, but it feels like my body contracts all the time, i have problems walking long distances, biking goes fine, sitting work usually too. the flow of energy is unstable, some times my whole body contracts strongly, which is very painfull, not very often though.
i allready know quite a bit about meditation and buddhism.

my question, i guess this are leftovers from my heavy stress i had for years, do think yoga can help me?

greetings zenbo

Yes, i think yoga can be helpful, if you try practicing it regularly. At the beginning you may feel tense, because of developing better body awareness. But with time, surely you can learn to relax. That is why i recommend you to start with more relaxed type of yoga class.

Good luck!

I say experiment with chair pose.

I find that my stress can easily be burned away with the fire of shiva. Chair pose is an easy asana to use to accomplish this.

Some take the route, for those that are stressed, a method to relax is the path to take.

For some, the stress has already set into the tissues, and it becomes an obstacle to relaxation. The muscle tissues must be given what they are asking for. Flight or Fight.
Put them through the paces, burn through their fuel, exstinguish the flames with savasana.

Zenbo,

a yoga practice that suits you or is appropriate for you would be very helpful. A yoga practice that suits another person or is inappropriate would be detrimental or have very little effect at all.

Burnout is often as much mental as physical so getting out and doing a physical activity will help increase your energy and also help put your mind in another place while you are doing it. I’ve had similar problems in the past and yoga is a great way to “reset” yourself so to speak and put your mind and body is a good place spiritually. It can often be hard work so be prepared but it sounds like a great fit for you and definitely could help with a lot of your problems?

good one

hello yogis

thank you for your kind answers, i would like to try the chair-method, can someone give me a link to a description?

thanks and greetings zenbo

I am not familiar with a “chair method”. If you are referring to the post earlier in this thread (by JSK) I believe that reference is to a particular posture (utkatasana) which is occasionally called chair or thunderbolt or lightening bolt.

mmmh, ok, could you suggest something not so hard, to start with?

“Something”? Sure, have you tried hot epsom salt baths? Consuming foods less likely to leave an acidic state in your digestive tract (ergo alkaline)? Being more hydrated? Lying down quietly for a couple minutes several times per day?

If you are specifically asking about a yoga practice the tools there are used in conjunction with one another. If you are asking about an asana practice (postures only) then perhaps a class of moderate temperature (73?) that is not too sloth-like and not too strenuous (moving your body) would help you initially until you figure out exactly what your soul is being called to.
