Calling all yoga teachers

Hi guys,

I have finally found a yoga teacher training course that (I think) meets my needs and I got accepted, due to start in Sept.

Before I commit to it and spend a lot of money can any of you tell me what are some of the teacher course MUST have’s?

The company is registered with Yoga Alliance International, and training is 3 weekends on, 1 weekend off for 3 months (to complete 200hr course).

Any advice or suggestions will be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi Omamana

I am a yoga teacher in Toronto, Canada. Here in Canada the Yoga Alliance isn’t how it is in the US- yet. Many very highly regarded teachers and studios here are not part of the Yoga Alliance, and a few lesser- regarded, newer studios are part of the Yoga Alliance, so I guess what I am getting at is that depending on where you are, things may be a little different.

If you are familiar with the studio you are getting your training from, and like the teachers, that’s the most important thing, I think!

In terms of schedule of the course, every studio differs, and even within studios, sometimes they offer different schedules of Teacher Training in different parts of the year. When I got my training, I went to one of the more highly- regarded studios in my city (teachers have 20+ years experience teaching, etc) because that was where I practiced and felt comfortable, and it was convenient for me.

Go with your gut. If you like the studio and teachers, and the Teacher Training schedule works with your schedule, I say go for it!

Good luck!!
