Camp In A Box?

Hi, I’ve been reading the forums on and off for a weeks as guest, finally decided to join

I promised myself a few years ago, that the year prior to turning 50, I would give myself the gift of becoming a certified yoga instructor.
(And I’ve learned a great lesson about attachments with this little promise, and having to let go, and why wait, living in the present, etc)

My personal practice has been rewarding and fulfilling to me, and I really feel that it then radiates to those I love and work with and for, and that it continues to impact others and my community in a positive way.
Basically, it feels like a gift, and like all gifts, I feel I should share it.
I’m a nurse working in Home Health Care, and a Reiki Practitioner. My Reiki practice is mostly limited to people referred to me by friends who are ill and in need of complementary therapy. I have to be careful not to mix my Reiki practice with my work with my agency.

In preparation for attaining my certification, I have been blessed to find a yoga studio that offers wonderful workshops: Book Club Readings (for instance the Bghavad Gita), a Karma class (met once per week to practice and each of us participants also took on a project to benefit the community–mine was collecting donated personal hygiene items and distributing them to those who needed them.) Also, multiple detoxing workshops, nutrition workshops, yogic philosophy, etc.

Well, my 50th birthday approaching this year.

The world of Nursing is changing, and I find myself having to go back to college to expand my degree in order to continue my nursing practice.
This has caused a serious detriment to my yoga instruction certification pursuit, on a financial and time basis. (college is uber expensive these days, I work many weekends, I do not have enough vacation time in a year to go to a month long retreat).
In my professional life, I have also volunteered my time in the Nursing Lab for Nursing 101 students at a local community college, and I have also given time to share my experiences to those same students during lecture class when asked by the instructors.
Basically, I will be unable to attend the certification class that I wanted to due to those financial and time constraints.

So, I’ve searched and searched, and while I have found some instances of being able to get certified with a weekend workshop, I just don’t feel that would offer me as much study as I would like.
Has anyone here had any personal experience with the Aura Wellness Camp in a Box Program?

I can’t attach a link as I’ve not posted enough here, but the program is the The Original Yoga Teacher Training Camp-in-a-Box - Level 1 (PLATINUM).
(Aura Wellness Center)

My plans for being a certified yoga instructor are not based on a desire to own my studio and make oodles of money. I just want to practice yoga in all forms and limbs to be a better person, help others, help my community, help the Earth.
I would however greatly enjoy instructing new yogis and watching their journey progress.
Some of my strong points are that I’m nonjudgemental and patient. I genuinely care about others and I can often figure out what people need even if they don’t know it, which I know may sound like I’m tooting my horn, but it’s just the way it is, I’ve learned to use my ‘gift’ for figuring people out very quickly, and my ability to feel their energy and sometimes see their auras to help people.
I just feel that a more complete knowledge of yoga will deepen my abilities.

I sincerely appreciate any feedback on the course I’m considering taking.

Thanks.
Bunnie

Well…now that I’ve posted this whole long dissertation, I went back to the forums and noticed the WHOLE THREAD about this very course.
Interesting reading, hmm.

Just wondering why you went back to the forums. It would have been an interesting reading had you named this thread as “Yoga in a Box”. Nothing personal…read all your words and enjoyed and I’m not alone …so far 19.

I went back to the forums bc I’ve been reading the forums for a while now, and just like browsing through…I just couldn’t believe I missed that whole entire thread on this very subject! Ah…not seeing the tree in the forest again is what I was doing I guess!! And yes…I guess yoga in a box would have been more appropriate as it certainly puts it in perspective…as yoga defies any kind of boxed idea now doesn’t it?
