Can yoga make men sterile? (sort of 18+ post)

okay bizarre question perhaps but i was watching some yoga videos on youtube with men doing some extreme and advanced moves. some seem to be very, well, i guess if some men can do the splits then it shouldn’t be an issue…

but seeing some of the videos made me cringe like oh shit, i’d be afraid i’d like snap some internal, how do i say it, veins/organs and like i dont know dislocate my testicles or something and thereby, causing me to be sterile.

so essentially, my question to you all is…do you know men who do these advanced poses that have also fathered children, while doing or after doing yoga? (in general, i don’t mean immediately after a yoga session lol)

the videos i mean are quite advanced:
such as
oh cant link cuz im new…hmm…here’s the titles (sorry if this is inconvenient)

Yogananth’s Yoga Demonstration & Book Signing at Yoga Plus (watch?v=R_TGg-x2Hvs)

and

samresh yoga (watch?v=ec1AECyp2XM)

I did some Google-ing and I am getting results saying that some positions actually increase fertility, but most are tentative and/or seem to be about female fertility. What about men?

Is that why not very men do it?

I heard some moves reverse hairloss, which I would assume may be because it’s triggering testosterone to not decrease, or i really don’t know.

so before this gets much longer (sorry) or awkward (sorryx2), what are your thoughts and/or experiences?

if you have become a father after or while practicing yoga, or if your the spouse/partner of a man who has become a father (biologically) than plz your response is appreciated.

Hey Bubba Smith,

I’ll do my best to answer your questions in sequence below:

  1. Re: increase fertility. What about men?
I’m reading a book on the science of yoga. Scientific studies show increases in male testosterone levels from yoga. There is an entire chapter talking about the positive effects of yoga and sex.

  2. Is that why not very men do it?
I’ve compiled alot reasons why men don’t go to yoga here:
    yoguy.ca/about-yoguy/differences/

  3. what are your thoughts and/or experiences?
I got into it to help with pain management; it worked…
I keep going because I feel better when I do.
    Simple.

  4. Re: if you have become a father
This is actually why I started, as I didn’t have time to all the old sports.

Hope that helps.
