Candle Gazing and Problems!

Hi,

I’ve done Candle gazing for 2 and half months. After the 1st week I started to see the candle flame while closing the eyes. After some time I started to feel the chakras in my left and right chest as well. and in the 2nd month, I could feel pressures on my crown and 3rd eye (middle of the forehead) chakras very well. And in the last I felt a small spot between my eye brows (this position was my first experience. I used to feel the crown, forehead and chest chakras before doing this candle gazing).

But I got 2 major problems while doing this exercises:

 1. I started to feel some pain like sensation in back of my head.

 2. My communication went worst. I couldn’t speak fluently. I used to feel that my tongue and throat has become heavy and they are not aligning with the brain. Sometimes I felt that I dont have some thought in my brain to talk about something…And when I used to talk with someone, words used to slip from my mouth or I used to mix the words with other similar words…and it made me embarrassed because my communication was not fluent…

So any1 could analyze this problem? Is it problem with throat chakra or what? Comments are appriciated!
ive tried it to and sometimes i to get pain in my head
So is there any solution? Any expert advice???

where do you do it? i have a way that i do lessen the pain and intensify my experance. but i dont think i can post it here

These are quotes from various places:

"Not everyone is apt for all three (inner, outer, intermediate) trataka’s or fixed gazes. Those who are bilious by temperment, whose head, nose or heart are warm, or who have swollen eyes or any diese are qualified to do only the ofuter fixing; likewise, those in whose constitution the air element predomintes who and who cannot see distant objects clearly or have weak sexual powers. Only those whos sight has no defect and whose temprament is predominatly lymphatic should do the intermediate fixing.

Fixing/Gazing should Never be done under the influence of anxiety, anger or sorrow or while studying; it is also forbidden to those who go much in the sun or any intense heat.

Fixing can only be successfully accomplished if a restricted diet is followed, although many people who eat meat, drink alchohol, and take drugs; this is fundamentally wrong and often sends them blind or insane.

It is only after the body has been made supple and pure through the Yam, Niyam, and the practice of the postures that the practice of fixing with the eyes is beneficial.

But what is the solution of the problems I’ve told?

I started to feel chakras while doing candle gazing and I started to see the Auras of people while talking to them in dim light after 1st month. It means I can progress if I work on consistent basis. But when I felt the pain in back of my head and my communication went worst, I stopped that candle gazing…So is there any analysis why it was happening??

There is a simple reason, if one is ready to keep certain pre-conceived notions aside. First, chakras belong to our subtle body and ordinarily, connecting with them takes years. Second, the training system here inculcates an “effort-reward” mechanism that we consider fair, just and hence, real. Yoga is no pill and its fruits have no rational timeline. Otherwise the law of karma wouldn’t be so complex.

Third, if you are getting trained in activating chakras, you start “expecting” that to happen. Then our minds run ahead of reality as they always do and oblige us with a possibly misleading correlation.

The reality is at times much simpler. Prana has 4 other versions (called Vayus) located in different parts of the body. Of which, Udana vayu occupies chest and above. In early part of yoga practice, these vayus get excited before they are purified. Udana vayu is naturally upward-bound and activates hiccups, speech and generally impacts communication between different parts of the brain (which by the way is much less solid than we imagine). The mischief of the unsettled vayus is sometimes seen as the ‘expected’ chakra activation.

What I am saying is that all this is possible. We need a reality check for everything that is marketed today under the umbrella of yoga. The media gloss and the cash-box magic often camouflage the rigors of yoga.

Chakra activation cannot be an exercise like reducing weight. Invariably, it is more a cumulative effect of comprehensive yoga practice that includes yama-niyama, postures and prana control. In the absence of a good teacher who may guide right, the best way is to honestly listen to your inner voice intently and sincerely. When you progress spiritually you ‘know’ it. Vayus gone wild can give you headache, chakras won’t. They are much more intelligent than what we are with our inert organ called, brain and its spoiled accomplice called, mind!

I had two accidents in my teenage when I fall down and the backside of my head was hit on ground. In the second accident, I was unable to see anything but a white mist for some minutes and after that I was fine…So do you think that problem was arisen while doing candle gazing???

I’ve done chakra activation/rotation many times but for a long time I didnt do it intentialy. I got Kundalini reiki attunement some years ago and my crown chakra started to activate even without focusing or without any intention. sometimes I feel like some energy is coming from upper side to my crown.(This happens even in daily routine works) sometimes it feels like rotating something on crown and sometimes I feel the presence of pressure on my forehead. These things are before doing the candle gazing.

So how to balance the vayus? I know it may need the full guideline from a proper instructor but could you suggest any simplest method to balance vayus you mentioned?

Thanks

I don’t understand, i am doing candle gazing for like one year now. once a day, at night. (20min) My head doesn’t hurt, i can see the chakras emanating from the distance.

Your overdoing it. For how many minutes are you meditating?

I don’t think your doing anything about your grounding.

Thanks for your reply wickeddeath2,

I was doing it from 30 to 40 minutes. But my true focus towards the flame was abt 10 minutes…the rest of the time my mind wanders… and it is said if you gaze for 10 minutes without blinking and without wandering mind then you can hypnotize with some object. If you reach to 30 minutes then you can hypnotize with your glance and if you reach to an hour then ur spiritual powers begin to awaken…So I dont think so abt the overdoing …but Yes it may be grounding …I offer prayer almost 4-5 times a day with bear feet …but I hardly thought abt the grounding while praying…I guess it’ll ground automatically…but may be i should properly ground for excessive energy…
So what method of grounding you follow and how many times a day?

And can u see the chakras of other people with open eyes? Have you reached to the point where meditation is opened and one can astral travel ??

You should do it 20 min a day only. (without blinking) If you blink, its not cool(:D). Tears need to start coming out. (don’t blink)

Press the tip of the tongue to the roof of the mouth.(and hold it there) (during candle gazing)

After 20 min (without blinking) close your eyes. You will see the after-effect of the flame. Keep the eyes closed and see the “flame” glow with closed eyes. Focus on the flame’s “image” with closed eyes and notice how it may be changing. It may glow very brightly and then grow dim, only to glow brightly again. It may change colors and size. Bring your attention to the space between and just above the eyebrows to the Ajna Chakra, the third eye. You may feel deep peace and distance from your body. Allow that feeling to permeate your entire being.

what happens to me… i just wonder away with my perception. To some another place/location (far far away.)

(:D). And i wake up 2 -3 hours later (and its freezing )

Once your finished

Candle gazing is used for opening of your 3 eye…after longer period pineal gland starts to awaken.

So don’t stare like a moron for hours and hours. Have some patience (or else it wont work and youl get into trouble).

I still don’t have any hypnotizing powers. (but you got some; you got headache, and your getting Dyslexia:D) So stop overdoing it. And listen to me.

:stuck_out_tongue:

My guess is yes. That your intuition is correct. Speech being associated with vishudha.

The advice would be to work on the Nadis and throat center.

pranayama = alternate nostril, and ujjayi with some time spent using the mind to localize awarness in the area of the throat.

Be gentle.

Once you are stable in the throat with the mind, you may want to add in the purifying mantra of ooooonnnnng in the matrix of the throat area.

The OOOOO portion of the pranava may provide some beneft there as well.

The seed syllable of the throat may also provide some benefit.

Asanas would be shoulder stand but should be monitored for any negative effects. I would also avoid the Head Posture for the time being.

Bandha would be Jalandhara.

Use your creativity to combine the practices once you become comfortable in their individual performance.

Be gentle.

Thanks wickeddeath2 and Melchizedek for your suggestions!

I can give you a quick fix, by using binaural waves.
That way you will bring your left and right brain hemisphere into synchronisation. It will fix hypofyse and the way it will regulate melatonin, and serotonin flow and your headache will disappear in like few days.

So what do you think ?
