Caribbean Yogi

Hi, my name is Danielle and I live on an island in the Western Caribbean off the north coast of Honduras. I feel in love with yoga over a year ago. Taking many classes with the only two Yoga Instructors on the island, practicing Hatha and Kundalini.

My spiritual journey has taken me on a wild ride over the past 12 years and led me to opening a Lifestyle center with the hope of bringing more yoga to this beautiful tropical island.

When I am off island I try to squeeze in as many yoga classes that I can attend so I am able to experience other types of yoga styles/practices that are out in this vast world.

Looking forward to the forum and meeting new yogis,

Namaste

Welcome!! It’s great to have you here.
I love the Caribbean, my favorite place in the world.
I’ll come visit your new center when its open!

Hi, we have been open for two months and have a fresh juice bar as well as an Eco-boutique. We currently have four instructors (2 local and 2 traveling) on staff, practicing Hatha, Kundalini, Core Power and a beginners class. The center has taken off on a great start!
Please come and visit anytime!

Hi Danielle! Are you a native of the island? If not, how did you find yourself this?

And welcome to the forum!

Where exactly are you located ? Roatan Island ?

I know a young guy who was branch manager at a bank in Toronto and now
moved to Honduras, where he has a job. His job there is paying less than the bank in Toronto, but he likes Honduras.

I have just received an e-mail from him:

He works in Utila, and manages the hotel on the cays.

Hi,
I am not a native to the island, I came here 13 years ago for three days and never left…

Roatan Island is one of the Bay Islands off the North coast of Honduras.

Yes, Utila is about 20 miles away another island, small world.

What do you sell in your boutique? I make all of my own relaxation products for my yoga classes, which include eye pillows and mat sanitizer spray. Is this something you would consider adding to your inventory?

Well, how are you now ? There was a strong eartquake (7.1 degrees Richter) at cca 60 km from Roatan. I think there is a tsunami alert around there.

Yes, there was a 7.1 here, woke up at 2am just thinking it was a tremor like we’ve had in the past until it wouldn’t stop, could here the Mexican tiles shaking on the roof, jumped out of bed and into the door way until it was over, wanted to run out though, thinking that the house wasn’t strong enough but stuck it out. No damage anywhere on the island it is amazing…a few cracks in my railing outside but thats it.
Thanks for asking.

hullo, guys!
i am looking for a yoga class in San Pedro Sula without much luck.

thanks!!

Sorry, don’t know of anything there.
If you are headed toward Copan you can find yoga there.

hiya!
you mean the Hacienda San Lucas place? i checked in out the other day it looked nice - so much like Antigua, Guatemala - and i would love to visit there sometimes but it’s bit too far. :frowning:
anyway, thank you, please let me know if you are ever heading this way on some special cases.

Hi,
No there is a place in Copan, Honduras, which is on the border of Hondu/Guate, just can’t remember the name…
