Carpet and Yoga

What’s the best way to practice yoga on a carpet? I’ve tried using a towel, but that bunches. My yoga mat just doesn’t work and it’s too scratchy to practice on bare carpet.

I’ve already seen another post about this and know about the Manduka recommendation, but has anyone else tried those interlocking foam exercise mats? They’re much cheaper, but seeing that it’s foam, I wonder if there’s any grip.

Any suggestions?

for me I use a cotton blanket and put my mat, which is made of clothe, on top of that.

I use a mat on top of my carpet.

However a 4 x 8 plywood panel with a mat on top works as well.
When you are finished, simply lift it and place it against a wall.
I advise sanding the side you’ll be used. You can find scrap wood if you are crafty.

The foam matting will work but you’d want to place a mat on top of it as it is slick. It will also be very soft with the three layers.

I have a regular cheap yoga mat that I do standing poses on, then I put a carpet on top of that for the sitting poses. Much more pleasure sitting there than on a sweaty mat. My carpet is a regular cheap home carpet, made of linen thread or something like that, 5 cm bigger than the mat. Quite rough in material though but it will get better by time and after first wash I think.

oooh all helpful, thanks!
