Cat-cow reversed breathing. Is my teacher bad?

Curious if more seasoned yogis can give me a good reason a yoga teacher might have you breath in during cat and breath out during cow. This seems so counterintuitive to me, but maybe there is a reason? It felt weird and so far I am not on board with this new teacher.

yes reverse abdominal breathing is used by experienced practitioner. It has always been part of Qi Gong as well.

So teacher is not bad but he or she should have first given you normal breathing for few years so that you could understand the subtle difference.

I myself practice both but it is not a play. one should spend few years under normal breathing.

it has similar purpose as those we get from retention of breath but again it is advanced topic.

yes not only in cat or cow pose we are doing every posture with breathing.Without breathing yoga is only body exercise.
