Is there a way to know who is currently online? Is there a way to chat with members that are online?
The “Who’s online” at the very bottom of the forum index page shows people who have been active somewhat recently or are active at present. There’s no real time chat, but you can message them privately via PM or on their profile page.

I’ve wondered the same thing! On some forums there’s a little “who’s online” box or a green dot next to usernames, but it depends on the platform settings. If that’s missing here, a simple workaround is to start a “live thread” in Off-Topic and invite anyone online to jump in. You can also enable notifications so you’ll see quick replies in real time. A few of us even swap handles and keep casual chats going on snapchat for quick check-ins between classes. Not exactly built-in chat, but it keeps the community feeling active and connected. Worth a try!
