Chiro says "no yoga"

I am pondering an interesting question I have been asked over time by different students. The question is: “I really want to take yoga, but I am seeing a chiropractor, and he suggests for me not to take yoga for a while. What do you suggest?”

Sometimes I can see the eagerness in the student wanting to take yoga
because in one case for example, the student even brought the yoga mat, but I do not want to speak against their doctor’s advise. I wonder if you could please give me some guidelines in how to respond best.

If you do not give private sessions and/or have no way to assess students condition then I would suggest saying take your doctor’s advice. If you can give an assessment then your advice can be given. Otherwise you are just guessing or hoping that yoga will be of benefit. One should know to help someone who is receiving medical advice. Namaste
