Are you sure it’s your coccyx and not your sacrum??
The coccyx is usually damaged by some sort of impact, like falling down stairs. Unless you fell out of a posture and landed on your butt this would seem unlikely. Or maybe you practise Kriya Yoga and have overdone Tadan Kriya a.k.a. “Beating the Kundalini”, again this seems unlikely.
Any movements involving the hip-flexors done too often or incorrectly can affect the sacrum but your instinct to rest for a while is a good one.
Ha! I’m pretty sure it’s my coccyx but I have not fallen on my butt. I have however, been doing a lot of hip-flexor postures which I think might have caused this as some weeks ago it started with sacrum pain.
I feel like my body just can’t do some hip opening postures, e.g. I can easily do cow-face or seated butterfly, but really struggle with utkata konasana or lying down butterfly. Do you think it’s just my unique physical make-up and I should avoid these postures? I feel like I have been working hard (not forcing though) on trying to get into these postures and as a result caused myself injury.
