Cow urine therapy

Hi All,

Namaste… My mother is nearing 70 and she has arthrits since last 3-4 years. Since then she used to get knee joint pain whenever she walks more but would recover after couple of days rest.

But it has been two months, she got knee joint pain but not feeling better at all. This time, she got swelling near knee which was not case earlier. So we allopathic and aurvedic (from Patanjali run by Baba Ramdev) simultaneously. But she is not feeling better. Allopathic doctor prescribed pain medication, which works for 3-4 days only. We do not want to continue taking it for longer period of time as that could cause undesired side effects.

Meantime, I came across cowurine . com from Virender Jain. You can watch him on youtube as well. I was wondering has anybody tried his medicine for arthitis and worked for him or her?

Please let me know…

Thanks,
Raje

Raje,

The use of cow urine is not necessary. There is a certain process in yoga which is called amaroli. It is basically drinking of one’s own urine, and can be used as a method to cure many different physical ailments. But fundamentally, amaroli is a method which was used to assist oneself in the process of meditation as well as to awaken certain energies of the subtle body.

Disgusting. I’m sure there are better methods. Find out WHY cow urine is purported to be an arthritis cure, first. If there is only word of mouth and no sound basis for it, I would see what else is out there.
In America, doctors treat with a medication that actually suppresses the immune system, reducing inflammation. Personally, I would only resort to this if the pain were debilitating (which in her case, it may be).
Her diet should also avoid any foods that are known to cause inflammation, such as sugar. I’m sure there will be sound advice coming here, and you can research what foods cause inflammation and which foods can help to suppress it.
Good luck, I feel for your mother, poor woman. :frowning:

Maybe the guy selling the cow urine, was a milk farmer who accidentally purchased a few too many bulls… he must have thought “may as well make the most of this”

If you can not give provide feedback, please keep your mouth shut.

Modern medicine has no solution for joint pain, except causing side effects.

Sorry, I had no idea a sense of humor is taboo in this forum.

p.s. check out Steve Maxwell’s mobility exercises… they are outstanding!!!

Actually cow’s urine is a proven form of ayurvedic medication since the start of ayurveda practices. It also has antibiotic properties and is known to boost the immune system and reduce obesity.

In the meanwhile, why not tell your mother to try kapalbhati pranayam or anulom vilom pranayam? She could also go for some not so exertive yogic mudras or asanas.

Regards,
Shahvir

I’m just dying to hear your scientific explanation of how it all works as you say it does.

Joanna’s advice is best so far. Arthritis is a degenerative disease caused by chronic inflammation.

Removal of the sources of inflammation will help TREMENDOULSY. But we are talking about an old lady who may be set in her ways so to speak and making changes to diet, although the best course of action, may be a tough pill to swallow. Depends on the person of course.

I have heard of this drinking urine therapy stuff. I reckon it was invented by a pervert trying to make people drink piss… and his dirty little plan worked!! This is why I am against religion. Once you except anything on the grounds of faith, your liable to believe in anything anyone convinces you of lol

Buddha would not ask you to accept things on faith and neither would I. I am however regarding many things quite curious and will dig and dig and dig for years to come up with answers. Plus I am also open to new pieces of information that may alter the picture.

Skepticism is a good attitude to hold, but like most things in life it also has a negative connotation. Simply holding a skeptical attitude and disregarding concepts without thorough investigation is lazy and just as foolish as 'blind faith."

Isn’t it?

I absolutely agree. I try not to become too rigid. That would be a mistake. I suppose I’m not totally against the idea of spirituality in some respects, I just get worried when vulnerable people are being taken for a ride due to naivety.

Cow urine therapy (or medication) was about to be patented by practitioners of Ayurvedic medicine in the West! A lawsuit was filed by Ayurvedic practitioners from India and there’s now a stay on the patent.

Personal opinion holds, but cow urine is a very important and proven ingredient in Ayurvedic medicines which also has mention in the ancient vedic texts and articles on Ayurveda. One could Google on the topic to find out more.

Urine is not “dirty”, that is simply the social programming that has entered into one’s mind. Certainly it is waste, but it is not waste in the same sense as shit. Urine is simply blood which has been filtered through the kidneys, and unless one’s kidneys or bladder are infected, or unless one has been living in an unhealthy way, then there is no possibility of any infection arising out of drinking urine. One of the main ingredients in urine is urea, which has antibacterial and antioxidant properties. It is a common ingredient in many drugs which are sold in the marketplace.

The quality of one’s urine is going to reflect the quality of one’s way of living, and the technique of amaroli in yoga was mainly prescribed for yogis who were already practicing a certain disciple and had already gone through a certain physical and psychological purification. The urine of a yogi tends to be far more purified than that of the average person, and it is possible for one’s urine to be somewhat unclean if one has been living in a certain way, doing all kinds of things like smoking cigarretes, drinking alcohol, taking drugs, and so on.

The body goes through a certain biological cycle in twenty four hours. In biology, it is known as the carcadian rhythm, although that is just scratching the surface of the changes that happen in one’s system within twenty four hours. Modern science still remains absolutely unaware of the changes that happen at the level of the subtle energies of the body, the influence of the solar and lunar phases, and other aspects. Our system is such, that it is interconnected with so many inner and outer forces, it is impossible for anything in nature to truly function as a separate entity. Even the breath is influenced by certain phases of the moon, depending on which moon phase is functioning, the breath going flow more through either the left or the right nostrils. Depending on which breath is functioning, differnet energies of the subtle body will be functioning. Either the ida nadi will be more active, or the pingala, or the sushumna. It is generally best to practice sadhana during times when the sushumna is active, because it is during those times when there is a greater possibility of awakening the kundalini which rises within the sushumna. But these are different matters. At the level of the gross body, during different times of the day different hormones are released by the endocrine glands into the blood stream. During the day thyroid glands are released, and between 2am to 6am pineal hormones such as melatonin are released. Melatonin is a hormone which induces certain states of relaxation which are linked with alpha and delta brain waves. This can be of tremendous aid in meditation, and in yoga amaroli is also used as an aid in yoga. That is why it is at least to be practiced during the early hours of the morning when there is a presence of melatonin in the urine. But there are other reasons for drinking the urine at particular times besides this, because at different times in the twenty four hour cycle of the body, there are specific subtle energies which are more active in the subtle body. These too are contained in the urine. When practicing amaroli, one is to drink only the midstream of the urine, as the beginning part contains bile, and the ending part is useless.

But if one is really interested in knowing of amaroli, one will have to explore for oneself. Fundamentally, the impact of all the techniques of the yogic sciences were not discovered through reading books, or simply borrowed knowledge, but through direct experience.

we used urine as an topical compress to the affected area over night. it seems to take swelling and pain away. I do not think that drinking it is good.

I can’t believe you took the time to compose such bologna.

Drinking one’s urine, or drinking cows urine has no benefit what so ever.

Unless of course your really really thirsty.

Absolutely preposterous. It’s not majjick sauce. It doesn’t contain mystical subtle energies. It’s not an anitoxidant. It’s waste.

This stupidity of practice arises from misinterpretation of ‘veiled’ or ‘symbolic’ word usage within a few of the shastras.

Come on really?

This is almost as bad as some Idiot cutting the ligament under the tounge so they can get all the way up into their nasal cavity to tickle their eyeballs.

FOOLS.

It’s almost as bad as some long haired sadhu holding his arm in the air for years till it whithers away inorder to gain mystical powers through austerity.

LOL.

Have fun with that.

I’m very surprised at how much mileage a thread about drinking piss has clocked up!

I stepped on a sea anemone once in Jamaica. Very painful. The rasta on the beach insisted I piss on it to aid in it’s removal. I opted for a needle and topical antibiotic instead. I figured the rasta and his buddies just wanted to smoke some ganja and giggle over the stupid tourist pissing on his foot, and Im not one for acting the fool for no money.

I have since heard a lot about using urine for all sorts of stuff. In an effort to be fair I will look into it. I happen to have a bit of time on my hands now.

make sure you do the scientific test where you “drink it” Make sure you track the midichlorians as they migrate through your astral vehicle.

Just imagine the scene for a moment…

“here goes!” The dread locked, severly underfed, white canadian “tantrika” takes a big gulp of piss from the skull cup.

His friends eyes are as big as the moon.

The future Jedi Siddha - who is now “in training” fights back his urge - to make this face >:???:

His training buddy is the first to break the silence.

“well?”

“well . . . ya know . . . its not that bad.”

lol

Scales,

“Drinking one’s urine, or drinking cows urine has no benefit what so ever.”

Rather than leaping to all kinds of conclusions out of ignorance, one will first have to experiment, come to a certain direct experience - enter into the matter without assuming anything at all. One’s attitude is very unscientific.

“This is almost as bad as some Idiot cutting the ligament under the tounge so they can get all the way up into their nasal cavity to tickle their eyeballs.”

That is not the purpose of kechari mudra. If you are interested in finding out whether there is anything more to such a thing, practice the technique.
