Daily negative dream----hard

I v been practised zhan zhuang and a few other styles lately, feel much better, more happy and more confident
There is a problem i still need help, though.
Each day i still sleep with dreams, they r long and in detail and negative dreams. I v been in this way for several years since i was diagnosed as PTSD. The dreams started as storms and horrible lives to wake me up , down to the years, it is getting progress but they r still here, refuse to leave totally.
Last night, i tried to imagine a happy scene before i lay down ,and even during the sleep , i still kept the image, then i woke up very early this morning.

It seems to be a fight----the negative and night mare old nerve is not letting the new happy nerve to come. If i lay down as usual in a negative emotion and nerve i can get around 8 hours sleep but the brain is heavy. Today i only get 5 hours sleep and i wake up in fear but the brain is happier.

I hope to find a method to stop those negative dreams and the deep fear, they make me in anxiety and fear in the day time, too.
I thought it is a spiritual reason so i asked a few friends , they said it was stll a physical reason .
So, i shall keep on the meditation or r there other faster ways to stop those dreams or change the negative into happy dreams?

Thanks a lot.

Sorry to hear about the nightmares (bad dreams) can you list what happens?

A member of my family had PTSD (Vietnam) and the only thing that helped him was a counselor and I know this may not be what you want to hear but it was only a temporary fix. However he did say he when the very bad dreams came back that there were fewer of them.

If you are not already doing Zen meditation you may want to pick

“Finding the Still Point” by John Diado Loori

There was also a type of meditation I just read abut in the November Issue of Men’s Journal that is being taught to the US Marines a Quantico, it is not for PTSD, it is used to induce sleep that may help since it does potentially change you focus before sleep.

As to Zhan Zhuang, did you pick up the book(s) by Lam Kam Chuen?

Might I also suggest Yoga Nidra before sleep?

I have suggested this book many times to mnay on this forum, but Thich Naht Hanhs book “Anger” is worth its weight in gold. While you may not be angry there are methods in the book to help you deal with PTSD. A therapist friend of mind uses something very similar when treating patients with PTSD and found it very effective helping with sleep, and dealing with the issue (s) that caused it.

Hope it helps! Sending positive healing thoughts your way!

I did not know about zhan zhuang. I looked up at you tube and found it very valuable. So thank you.

I highly recommend the books by Lam Kam Chuen

I would say that yoga nidra, meditation, deep breath and yoga asanas is diffidently something to consider.

Maybe would be a good idea to see psychotherapist as well…but this one can be pricey…

What is Zhan Zhuang? I checked out Youtube like lostontheway, but still didn’t get a clear sense of what it is. Is is specific postures with regards to standing meditation?

Zhan Zhuang is usually defined as one posture but it can also be several similar postures, all standing.

You are thinking and or focusing on nothing but you are watching and feeling what your body is doing. It is also about proper body alignment, which is why sometimes it is best to learn from a teacher. But when standing the idea, early on, is to get to the proper alignment and relaxation.

Stand long enough there will no longer be any pain or discomfort in the stance, usually by that time you are standing about 15 to 20 minutes and that is when the amazing stuff happens. You begin to notice connections within the body as well as energy flows and you are not thinking of past or future

This is a powerful healing mantra that is sung by the Dalai Lama. It lasts for about an hour. I listened to it a couple of times before going to sleep and had amazing dreams. I would be very interested to know if you have any positive results from listening to this.

Wow Ive been listening…I am going to try what you did and see. x

Did you download the file? There are also some really cool graphics that you don’t see if you listen online.

I’m game for trying some dreaming techniques, esp if they are easy to implement and don’t take a lot of time, like dream journaling, it takes me at least a half hour just to jot down a dream!
I’m going to download this when I get home and give it a shot.

Oh my. I just downloaded it and began listening. It’s so - uplifting. I feel like a child, a happy child, listening to this. Thank you so much for sharing it, and as with the request on the website, I’m going to share it with as many as I can.

I don’t know how to describe this feeling. Its so simply beautiful and soul brightening.

the link again (I don’t think it can be linked too many times!)

Asuri,
It’s an MP3 file, there are no graphics? Do you perhaps have your windows media player set up to give you a visual display?
