Did the ancient yogis have a sweet tooth

It seems that some great yogis may had had a sugar addition from my readings of their diet’s …
it does seem like some great ones loved their sugar and honey most everyday . What do you think ?
Cheers

Some honey in your tea does not make you a sugar addict. Depends on how much they would use per day. Did they consume over 100 gms of honey per day?

Also dont forget that pure honey is very nutritious. Like always with moderation.

I will give you honey is better but sugar was still on their favorite hits list along with milk and butter and …yuck …ghee

Different location, different likes. If you were born in india its possible you would like the same.

You are right I would not question what my teacher said if he said eat this I would
My teachers says no to dairy ,milk ,butter ,cheese ,meat ,sugar ,coffee , wheat ,potatoes ,rice even bottled water is a no no , filtered tap is best according to my teacher ,no wonder I am so thin

You should eat as per the needs of your body. Look into Ayurveda, find out what your body constitution is and eat as according to that.

There seems to be many rules but as surya deva says different bodies different needs.

Milk directly from the cow is very nutritious, in the supermarket it is not so good.

All these taboos i think is from the mind. And yoga should let us go of the mind domination. Sometimes it seems that the mind make up rules that cant be followed 100% so that we believe we cant become pure or become realized if not following these rules. Snared by the mind so that it safe its future existence. We do not need to become extreme. But if one feel better to exclude cheese and all this then its another story. But they should not be discarded because one thinks he will be pure or make more progress, then i think it can lead to not making progress instead.

Many are wiser than me maybe I am attached to detachment
Cheers

Abhyasa/Practice: Abhyasa means having an attitude of persistent effort to attain and maintain a state of stable tranquility . To become well established, this needs to be done for a long time, without a break . From this stance the deeper practice continues to unfold, going ever deeper towards the direct experience of the eternal core of our being.
Vairagya/Non-attachment: The essential companion is non-attachment ,learning to let go of the many attachments, aversions, fears, and false identities that are clouding the true Self.

Honey is considered a sattvic food:

Such foods include water, cereal grains, legumes, vegetables, fruits, nuts, unpasteurized and unhomogenized fresh milk, and fresh milk derivatives (mostly ghee, but also butter, cream, cheese (paneer), and yogurt(lassi)), and raw honey.

Today’s milk is not yesterday’s milk unless you own a cow

“THE sweet” is generally related to the Sattva mode.

Sattva is conducive to yoga.

Hence the hence.
