Personally I have done the saltwater flush, which is to be done rarely, and also home enemas which can be done more often. Of course talk to the Doc about it or do it at your own risk. Drinking pee has supposedly been around for a long time, thousands of years. Kind of embarassed to say, but it is not that bad buy can be strong depending on what you eat. Yoganis book on deit, shatkarmas, and amorili is pretty good

I made sure to eat 3 cans of corn today just for fun.

Ha! :D. Too funny.
Seriously though, of COURSE you should only consume potable water whether at home or abroad unless you want to acquire a nasty parasite/virus/bacteria. Some leave very long term effects on your system.
I’m in public health so talking about poop and vomit is commonplace for me
And also means I’d be interested in finding out what pet friend you brought home with you
Oh yes, quite an entertaining thread, although I’m sure you’re not feeling very entertained David!
I’m very curious as well as to who you brought home, so be sure and get their full names when you find out.
Hello David,
This topic has come up several times over the last six months or more. My teacher has discussed it, both in Ongoing Teacher Training class and in a weekly Nutrition lecture. In addition, Rachel and I have been conducting our own experiment with nutritional adjustments to prevent candida albicans, otherwise know as yeast overgrowth.
When A student comes to me before they seek allopathic remedy I suggest the following:
Do all that you can to avoid antibiotics. They kill life in the digestive tract, including necessary bacteria for healthy digestive function and they contribute to a cycle which leads to more virulent “bugs” that are resistant to even the strongest of antibiotics.
When the student feels or decides that they ARE going to go this route then it is hyper-critical that prebiotics and probiotics are introduced in to the lower GI. That means one must select the right product otherwise the bifidus and acidophilus do not make it past the stomach acid and the ingestion is basically worthless.
Dealing with candida in the lower GI absolutely requires a radical shift in nutrition for an extended period of time. For candida I suggest (and have found) avoiding wheat, all sugars (yes, including fruit), and white starches including pasta and rice. Additionally, nothing fermented (though there is mixed opinion on this point) like alcohol or soy. And of course no dairy.
For parasites I suggest the tandem of Para-free and Comfortone from Young Living. You can also juice 1 bunch of cilantro each week. Of course you also have to drink it. PM me for the recipe and I’ll dig it up for you. There are several pre and pro biotic products. I suggest Vitadophilus as it has an apple pectin coating which allows it to pass by the acidic environment of the stomach and reach the colon and small intestines.
Starving the candida will cause them to die off in your digestive tract and you’ll need to constantly be flushing them out of your system and you’ll likely feel icky. What I have found best for this is fortune delight or Calli tea depending on the strength of your system. The first is gentler than the second. Water is helpful but about half as effective for flushing the dead critters.
With no disrespect to Brother Neil, I personally do not advise a salt water cleanse as it can be very harsh on the digestive system and bowels.
As always, if you want additional information or assistance you know where to reach me. And I very much enjoy being called in to the issue a bit earlier - like in the prevention stage:-)

I love you Gordon, thank you!
Is it possible that Candida may have gotten in my gut and is what is causing all this pain? I’m noticing tonight that the area that is painful is also warm to the touch in comparison to the other side. Good times.
edit
Wow, I just looked up intestinal candida and these are just about my symptoms to a T.
The symptoms of yeast overgrowth in the intestines are represented throughout the body. Most notably, chronic fatigue, especially after eating, as well as depression, bloating, gas, intestinal cramps, chronic diarrhea, constipation, heartburn, rectal itching, allergies, lowered immunity, memory loss, mood swings, brain fog, jock itch, athlete’s foot, extreme sensitivity to chemicals, and a low tolerance for alcohol are all common symptoms of a yeast overgrowth.
Looks like it’s time for a serious change in diet.

No offense taken here brother. it being harsh is one of the reasons I said it is done rarely and also why I pointed him towards the AYP writings on these things as yogani is better suited to teach these thngs then I.
Peace be with you
Brother Neil

Time to stop drinking pig water

By “gut” you mean something other than the aforementioned colon and intestines? Yes it is absolutely possible. I was operating under the premise that you, David, had accurately “diagnosed” your issue as I do not at all do diagnosis.
I don’t yet have a formal diagnosis as to what is causing the pain in my lower right side and occasional other areas of my intestines. That’s why they’re checking for parasites next. BUT, I definitely have (diagnosed) yeast in other areas of my body including a nice red rash on my chest, which makes me wonder if that’s what the pain in my side is: intestinal candida. The symptoms definitely fit.
Also look into colon hydrotherapy. It’s a bit safer than enemas and far more effective as it gets further along the the gastro-intestinal tract.
I don’t know if there’s a clinic in Hawaii or if there is whether it’s sound or not. And I don’t know whether it is allowed with your current condition. But look into it.
HOLY CRAVINGS. I want some M&M’s dammit! sob
Radical changes in diet sure can wreak havoc on the mind and emotions. It’s amazing what we’re at the mercy of and how my mind sure tries to justify things.
I’m still waiting to hear back on my food allergies test and from the guy who is lucky enough to sift through my poo. But I did hear back that my CBC’s are normal for the first time in a long time.
In other news, I’ve been eating tons of cashews since they’re on the can eat list. It turns out that if I eat enough cashews, the trace amounts of urushiol (same stuff in poison oak and mangoes) in them cause me to break out.
I’m such a delicate little flower.
David,
Aloe Very juice/gel is know for its anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral anti-inflammatory, anti-biotic, anti-microbial and anti-septic properties. In SA we get a gel form of aloe vera juice that you can drink, it tastes actually rather pleasant. Worth trying?
Thanks Pandara!
I got a bunch of them in the back yard. I just pluck a leaf, slice it, strip it of its juice and suck it up, its kind of like gooey spit but without much flavor

Which “can eat” list are you referring to?

You make it sound so appetizing! lol
Interesting how synchronicity works - I read this thread, and develop a yeast infection of my own! I’m guessing sugar is right out for eating during this time?
Maybe I’ll go buy an aloe vera plant.

well it does not taste good, but it doesnt taste bad, a pretty neatral taste which makes it easy to do. about like drinking water for me. I did eat a chocolate chip cookie today though.
I took a fluconazole tablet to get rid of the infection, though I question the safety of a medication that affects my ability to think so badly for most of the day when I first take it. I cannot abide the pain and discomfort of the infection
Do you really feel the aloe vera will make a big difference? We hear about sooo many different remedies for things, and often they rarely make much difference at all for most.
My poo test came back negative. No little critters swimming around so I can take back the flea collar I purchased for myself.

It seems quite a few people are affected by fluconazole. I guess I’m one of the lucky ones who didn’t have any side effects. I read everything I can on meds before I take them and from what I can tell, taking one fluconazole isn’t going to cause much if any trouble for you. However, some people are prescribed regular doses and they have to be monitored for all kinds of potential issues including but not limited to turning into a frog.
Hey David. Ever looked into paleo/primal diets? This is the basic outline: paleonu.com/get-started/. I went 100% primal (which is basically paleo, with a tad more dairy) a few months ago, and have been feeling great.
I did experience carb fatigue for about a week (less energy and a dull headache as I came off my pasta dependency). Though since then, I’ve had more energy and have felt awesome. My diet now consists mostly of pastured meats (beef and chicken, primarily, but I do love me some bacon), plenty of veggies, some fruit (berries, mostly), and eggs. This is one of my favorite primal lifestyle blogs: marksdailyapple.com
