Anyone care to share ideas or wisdom as to whether direction plays a part in asana practice? Facing north, east, south, or west?
No matter where you begin, at the end of your asnas you will likely have faced all directions anyway.
I have read that you are supposed to face the sun but I have never done it.
When the sun is rising or setting…
Please don’t try any other time.
My altar room is in the northeast corner of my home, so I mainly practice my asana there. We keep a small(ish) home and this just happened to be the space that we could put to use for puja and practice; thankfully, in addition to being what we had available, it is also the most appropriate for Yoga practice per Vastu.
You may want to search out Sherri Silverman at Transcendence Design as a resource of Vastu. I had a chance meeting with her once years back and found her to be really lovely and gifted.
Nichole
I usually try to face inward.
/ha ha ha.

difficult to face the sun if it is directly over head…while doing asana practice.
never a good idea to look directly at the sun at any time.
If practicing at sun rise or sun set I do like to face toward it especially if outside or facing a big window…otherwise makes no difference.
